Question concerning new grandaughter

Hello Everyone!
I drop in from time to time to read, but haven't posted in quite some time. However, something that happened has me questioning the birth of my new grandaughter, Alyssa and I'd love to hear everyone's opinion.

About two years ago, I was sitting on the bed putting on socks getting ready to leave for work. I was rushing, as usual, and trying to remember not to forget anything, when out of nowhere, I hear a man's voice directly in front of me. He said, "Elissa".

I thought that he was meaning to say my name, which is 'Melissa'. I was very startled by this happening, grabbed my purse and shoes and took off downstairs.

The voice was very clear, as if whoever this voice came from was no more than a couple of feet in front of me. I'm not certain, but the voice sounded much like one of my brothers, John, who passed away in an automobile accident in 2000. I thought that maybe it was him, and that I just missed hearing the 'M' on the front of 'Melissa'.

This happened about two years ago.
On August 2nd of this year, my first grandaughter was born. She and I are closely bonded and she's the sweetest little one! (Not biased at all!! LOL) When she was born I was with my daughter in the delivery room, and when she was born and they took her over to the incubator to clean her up, I walked over and looked at her, carrying on and talking to her. I was so excited!! As I was talking to her, the nurse looked at me with an astonished look on her face and asked me, "What did you say?" I guess the look on my face was one of confusion, because she went on to say, "You said 'you missed her so much." I didn't consciously remember saying this, but I was talking to the baby a mile a minute.

My daughter and son-in-law decided to name her Alyssa, after me. Just 'Melissa' without the 'M' and spelled differently.

A couple of days ago while looking at her newborn photos, I remembered what the nurse had told me that I said to the baby, that "I missed you so much". All of a sudden, the memory of hearing the man's voice two years before as I was getting ready for work popped in my head, and I wondered if her was actually intending to say "Alyssa" instead of "Melissa". Maybe if he was letting me know way ahead of time that maybe he could be returning to the family AS Alyssa.

This has been bothering me and I can't stop thinking about it. Oh yeah,....I am quite sensitive and do hear spirits from time to time. I usually try to block them out because they can be quite startling, but it's happened all throughout my life, and I'm 40 yrs old.

Well, that's it. Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Love and Light,
Melissa

Thanks for sharing that, Melissa. :)

I think it's good to take notice on this kind of things, and if I were you, I'd keep my eyes and ears open as Alyssa grows up - remembering not to give her any ideas yourself. If she was once your brother - or whoever she was in a past life - she'll talk about it when she's ready and if she needs to.

But this was a lovely story, and I can tell Alyssa is one lucky girl to have a grandmother like you.

Hi Melsie,

Congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter, and thanks for sharing your story.

Like Karoliina said, Alyssa is very lucky to have you as her grandmother. If she does ever recall a past-life as your brother, it's nice for her that there is someone who she can talk to, who understands.

Have you read Carol's book Return From Heaven? There are many cases in there where souls return to their families, you may find it very interesting and useful.

Please keep us posted if there any updates.

Hello Melsie. Thanks for sharing that. How interesting.

Karoliina and Chris have given you some good advice. I think that these events, spread over time, are all part of your path of discovery. It is good that you are able to piece them together so well. I once caught myself making a similar spontaneous remark that could have only come from another time. It's meaning was beyond simple words or conversation...it was the past touching the now.

I wish you well with your new grand-baby. She surely is a fortunate child.

Thanks so much, Everyone, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Yes, I have read Carol's books, and loved them. I started searching out past life info a few years ago after I started having occasional OBE's. As a child in elementary school, our music teacher was teaching us a song about a little indian brave building a wigwam (canoe), and I was very adamant as a child that she was telling the class the wrong way it was done, and proceeded to tell her the correct way. At the time, I was 7-8 yrs old.

When I did that, it happened the same way as at the hospital when Alyssa was born, and I told her 'I missed you so much'....it just popped out of my mouth without any forethought on what I was saying. I was in an orphanage until I was 5 yrs old, and am now 40. Two years ago I found my birth father, and come to find out, my father and four uncles and grandfather/s are all in the Chippewa tribe.

Who knows if Alyssa is my brother or not. As she gets bigger, if she begins to talk, I'll write things down and just be there to listen. If she doesn't, I'll just be the happiest grandmother in the world and love her more than anything! :D

I just found the occurrences that I first posted to be strange, and was surprised that I hadn't connected them before now, since she's turning 5 months old.

But, yes, I'm reading everything I can get my hands on, as I venture for self discovery. Everyone's life stories are so interesting and I enjoy the site. Thanks for sharing!

Hugs,

Melissa
