I’m starting this thread because when it comes to my WWII self’s childhood memories, which have been coming up more than adult ones nowadays, I noticed a pattern.
First of all, even during the Great Depression, we were incredibly wealthy. What we had was enough to visit different parts of Europe, North America and even Asia. We had big houses, multiple servants and really expensive clothes. This isn’t common back in the day, or it doesn’t seem to be. What kind of families would be this wealthy then, especially for German families? Conglomerates? Nobility(not necessarily high-ranking)?
Another pattern is that quite a lot of my under 10 memories were in Eastern Europe. Not only that but I was fluent in Russian even at a very young age and some of my relatives spoke them. I seemed to have relatives who lived in Liepaja at least during my childhood, and I would visit them every now and then. There’s a chance they could’ve been forced to move because of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact though.
Considering this was an under 10 memory aka they’re not my step family since this was before my parents divorced, we were actually family. I resembled said relatives too, especially an aunt.
Before even looking for my adult self, I decided to take a step back and investigate more on my biological family first. Maybe my father’s side could have a hint. I took a long break but I’m getting interested once again.
Ps. Feel free to change the name of this thread, I’m not too sure what’s an appropriate name for this.
