The First Clue From My Son Regarding A Possible Past Life.

Last night my son was looking at my computer, and a friend of mine on Facebook posted a picture of a lit fireplace. This oddly set my son off on a tangent, and he began speaking of a fire, house fire.... windows breaking, he said it was hot and he was scared. He said mommy was there. He explained different parts of the body and how they felt. He is only 2 and a 1/2, so he doesn't have all his words yet. I took from it as much as I could, and comforted him.

He may have been speaking of two different "fire" experiences, because he spoke of the "house fire," and he also went around in a circle as if he was walking around a fire pit. After walking in circles, he then told me what it felt like. He focused on the ears... I am unsure why. He also mentioned the back quite a bit, and came to me, and showed me what he was speaking about on my body. I wasn't sure if he had burned, or if I had burned and he had watched. I'm hoping to find out more if he brings it up again. He did mention it briefly this morning... he just said "house fire," and went about his day.

I'm not sure where this is coming from, but I believe in past lives, and have been watching for signs for a while. I do not want to read into it too much, but I do believe that the average person would overlook these little moments as "pretend." I wish my husband supported my beliefs a little more than he does. He isn't sold on past lives, and I could tell he thought it was silly that I was reading into the fire comments.

Hello, and welcome to the site if I didn't welcome you before.

Take notes. They will help you as you travel on this journey with your son.

When I read reports like yours, I am taken back to wishful longing that I could relive or somehow recoup those lost moments with my own two sons, when they might have said something suggestive of past lives. It was too often that I was on a train to New York, or staying overnight in a Manhattan studio working on a long-forgotten advertising campaign. And, like so many "down-to-earth" hard-working fathers, whenever I had a few moments with my two little boys, I was too engrossed in relaxing that I couldn't pay attention to their excited wide-eyed jabbering.

For this reason I say to all you mothers out there; tell your men that they will one day be sitting in an almost empty house realizing that there is more to this one short life and wishing that they had paid more attention to the idle comments of their children.

As Mama2HRB suggests, take notes. Write everything down so that you may both discuss this possibility of Reincarnation in your later years when all of this would otherwise be forgotten, and when the long-term meaning of life becomes ever more important.

That's a great idea. I will write down anything he says that may, in some way relate to a past life. Actually, It couldn't hurt to write down everything he says and does that I'd like to remember. I have such a connection to this boy that I have such an intense anxiety regarding losing him. I fear it so much. I wish I could live my life free of this anxiety and just enjoy him. I have had a regression, and believe he may have been my son in the past and he died prior to me dying. I then decided that I had to die to be with him, leaving everything behind. In the regression, I made sure that I would too get tuberculosis, and die of it as my son did. I am begging to have him forever this time... and I need reassurance, that no matter what happens, I do have him forever. I don't know why it's so hard for me to just trust that.

My husband doesn't help things, he has asked me not to mention past lives anymore. He wants to think of me as I am today, and my son as he is today.. not as completely different people. I wish I could make him understand. Past lives are an interest of mine, just as he is interested in sports and live music. Why can't he respect that? I don't know what to do regarding this situation, I'm hoping he one day sees the light.

Welcome "hoping4change" to the Past Life Forum where you are amongst like minded individuals, some of which have had similar experiences to yours.

After retiring from a FD, I can tell you that hot burning wood embers that somehow got down the BACK of a fire turnout coat is NOT a pleasant experience (one wonders why they were allowed to get there in the first place!!!) :(

And it seems the EARS are the first to feel a working fire, where the temperatures can soar, and even a good quality fire helmet with a face shield and a Nomex fire collar, one can can feel the tops of the ears start cooking. :(

The EARS and BACK are emphasized because they were focused on and mentioned by her Son.

Perhaps in a Past Life (PL) your son was a Firefighter, it's not hard to imagine considering it's supposed to be one of the more higher "Most Dangerous" occupations there is (I think Mining is the highest).

ALL of the preceding posts have given good advice, if writing is tedious (or painful, in my case) than consider using a tape recorder to record information in lieu of a written journal.

As far as hubby is concerned, all it takes is one PL dream to make him a believer, let's hope he has that dream soon!!!

Thanks for sharing - the best thing you can do for your son now is comfort him, and LISTEN. Which it sounds like you are already doing. Yes, keep notes of what he says...As he gets a little older and his vocabulary increases, he may tell you more.

Keep up the good work!

update, the fire topic continues.

My son continues to mention "the house fire," everyday. things got a little complicated since last week was "fire safety week," at school. Austin tells me often that "the firefighters are coming." When I left for work this weekend, he very matter of factually asked me to be careful of fires. Since my son continuously mentioned that the firefighters were coming, my husband insisted that firefighters must have been coming into the classroom last week. I knew that wasn't so, as I know when he mentions the fire he is speaking of another lifetime. I made a point to ask the teachers, and of course, no firefighters had come, or were coming into the classroom.

Today my son stated one of the classic past life phrases I've heard in other stories. He was sitting at the table, playing with his food, not eating his dinner. He randomly said, "I miss my Mommy." I stayed silent and my husband said, "you miss your mom, she's right there?!" He replied with, "no, I miss my mommy from the fire." I know not to take this personally of course.

I feel sad that my son must have died in a fire previously. I am just in awe that parents miss these signs! Do some children speak of past lives more frequently than others? It's just crazy how ever since he mentioned it a couple of weeks ago, he has continued to mention it randomly here and there. Another thing we've noticed since the fire comment is that he's picked up a Pennsylvania Dutch trademark "now" after every sentence. Anything he says, he finishes with now, and in the same tone of the Pennsylvania Dutch dialect. Just a little strange since there is no reason for him to speak like this. I have no clue where or how he picked that up.

One thing I have personally experienced, and Carol talks about it in her book, is that when you believe in reincarnation yourself people around you somehow know that it's OK to talk about Past Lives or reincarnation to you. There is some kind of telepathic "mind link". Whenever you son talks about past life stuff you might ask him what his name is/was, location, date, etc. I know it will be hard but it will help to narrow down where to search for information. The "Pennsylvania Dutch" accent is a good start. If you can get an approximate year you can search newspaper archives online (there is a website that has scanned thousands of microfilm records) for house fires in that area. It's like solving a mystery or jig saw puzzle.

Hoping,

My family and I are Pennsylvania Dutch. If I can help let me know.

One thing that is PA Dutch that many of my family do is "Blowing Fire". Blowing Fire is a way of blowing on a burnt body part to either lessen the severity of the burn or the amount of pain. Maybe ask him if he ever heard of Blowing Fire and see what he says.

Good luck

Since your son mentions "the firefighters are coming" it sounds like a recent past life within the last 100 years or so. This is good because there will be records of the tragedy somewhere. Just for the heck of it, why not google "Pennsylvania house fire" and see what pops up? If there are news photos maybe let him look at them and see if he has a strong reaction to any of them. If he was very young when he died it may have been within the the last 10 or 20 years, similar to the 9-11 babies. Aren't there Pennsylvania Dutch in neighboring states like Ohio, etc.? Check there also. Maybe check county by county.

Hoping,

My daughter developed a fear of her bath at a similar age. I believe it was the milestone, reaching the age she was when the event happened to her in a past life, along with the running water that triggered her memory. The fear faded in time.

Keeping that in mind, I could easily imagine a mother, with fire all around them "in a circle", holding her son with his face to her chest. It very well could have reached their backs and ears first. So sad.

I am sorry that you do not have the support of your husband at this time. His talking about not wanting to imagine you as someone different may be just his way of working through this strange, new concept. His views may evolve, especially if your son keeps mentioning the fire and his other mom.

Unlike others here, I would not recommend trying to find the past life event at this time. You could find the wrong event, and impose your belief on your son. He is at an age where you could easily misunderstand what he is trying to say, so I would just let him talk when he wants to, and write down what he says.

Most importantly, let your son know you are there to listen if and when he wants to talk about it. Tell him you are sorry this happened to him. Reassure him that it will not happen again in this new life, and that he is safe here with you now.

Lastly, I also don't get how other adults miss these comments or laugh them off as imagination. Every small child I have known has dropped a hint or two. When your son says, "I miss my mommy," he means it. It takes someone with eyes to see 'through a glass darkly' to catch it.

Wow! I had no idea there are so many house fires in Pennsylvania every year. When searching the internet narrow it down to a specific year, or else you will get tons of stories. Type in "Pennsylvania house fires 2009" for instance. You may need to include the quotes. Then look at the stories in the right geographical areas. Many of the stories even list names of the victims. Isn't the internet great? Tracking down this information would have been impossible just a few years ago.

Many of the house fires, if not most of them, are caused by heating sources in the colder months. With the economy being so bad more people are heating with space heaters, and sadly, they can be an accident waiting to happen, especially in homes with children or when they are using older heaters.

Yes, I know. Even here in central CA we have a few heating-related fires in the winter. Unlike southern California, this part of the state does get cold and damp in the winter. Years ago there used to be a lot of carbon monoxide deaths from un-vented gas space heaters. It was mostly farm worker housing because they didn't know you were supposed to have a window cracked open. The state finally outlawed un-vented gas heaters. We have a big problem now with candle fires. People light candles either to save on the electric bill or their electricity has been turned off for non-payment.

Sadly, as people run out of money they take unnecessary chances, such as with candles. We also have people here living in abandoned properties.

Unfortunately they are way too many repossessions of homes which leads to homeless people, empty properties and no money for the bank anyway.

Thank you all for your responses. Austin continues to speak of the fire, but nothing has felt as important as his comment about missing his other mommy. We have been severely affected by hurricane sandy and have been out of power for 5 days. Luckily, we have been fortunate enough to have a little extra money to pay for a hotel the past 2 days. I have been extremely nervous at home with my son with our main source of light being fire. I advise him to be careful, but it only takes a second. I do not want this potential past life memory to actually be a premonition. If others could share their thoughts on premonitions, that would be helpful, as I have never truly experienced this in a way that would be so monumental. Can potential past life memories actually be premonitions? Thank you. I hope everyone here is faring well since the hurricane.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you on the hurricane aftermath. I think there would be a difference between a PL memory and a premonition. Maybe tone of voice? Carol has a list of PL memory indicators. One is they speak of the incident in a matter-of-fact tone.

Since he mentioned his "other mommy," it sounds more like a PL memory than a premonition. I wouldn't worry about it.

You are not alone in your fears. Trust me, I have the same fears that resignate in my heart and mind. As hard as I try, I can't make them go away. After losing my Son, the pain is still so new and right there on the surface, so obviously I'm still traumatized by that devasting loss.

My husband has finally conceded that there are simply way too many "coincidences" for there not to be some evidence of PL's. He doesn't WANT to believe, but it's pretty hard to deny at this point. My Brother on the other hand, literally mocks me and Yells at me at the slightest mention of any comparison to the two. I've said to him over and over, "Hey, if I told you that the grass was purple, the sky was yellow and I talk to little fairies that fly around me, you're suppose to be happy that I'm finally not dying in pain over losing my Son!" I don't expect him to ever believe, but hopefully he'll learn to let me believe and respect that. Daily, he tells me how proud he is of me for finally becoming the old "me" again, by laughing and living life. Yet, he refuses to acknowledge why I'm finally healing. I gave up trying. And just so you know, I have great respect for you. You're trying. That speaks volumes.

My daughter and I quote Mama's line all the time:

For those who believe, no explanation is necessary.

For those who do not, no explanation is enough.

And Thank you to Mama. Truer words were never written. It used to break my heart to be mocked and looked at like I was a mourning Mother in denial. Now, it's actually amusing. I know something they don't, lol!

And Thank God for this site. The support I got from day one has been a true gift.

You are welcome, I borrowed the line from somewhere awhile ago and it really has helped. In my family most do not believe and some are constantly mocking us. I was shocked to hear from an older brother that not only does he believe but his interest level is quite high. He was mad that I dismissed his belief in the matter.

I told him, of course, if he wishes to discuss that part of my life ... we could have hours of conversations.

Best wishes on your journey with your children. All you can do is instill in them that even though others do not believe, you do, and their disbelief does not mean it is not true. In fact, I told the one when he dies to talk to me and I will answer him just to prove I was right.

Update!

This morning Austin randomly mentioned another "possible" past life memory. We were sitting in the family room, near his toys, and near his great grandfather's war memorial that my husband holds near and dear. It's just a box holding the flag from his funeral and some additional trinkets that remind him of his dear grandfather. He did not die at war. My husband shared many moments with him. Anyway, after peering at the box and commenting about the stars on the flag, my son asked, "what was his name? What was the old man's name?" I said, "your great grandfather's name?", He said, "no, the old man in the car crash? What was his name?" I sat in silence, not sure what he was referring to. He said, "I died, what was his name?" I asked him, "did mommy die too?" He said, "yes, mommy died too." I asked him ONLY because I feel as if my son and I died in a car accident together. My biggest fear is driving in a car with my son, alone. There is no reason why I fear this, but I do, and it's INTENSE. I am being regressed for a second time in April. I am hoping I can find more out about this possible life. I have also dreamed about a car accident. The dream was not very clear, but there was a tornado in the dream. I'm not sure why, but I don't think it's significant, other than, all car accidents feel like a tornado. I have never had a dream like this one. I literally thought I died in the dream. I felt my head hit hard, It's hard to explain the feelings after, but it was exactly how I'd expect sudden deaths to feel. This dream was about 2 years ago. Anyhow, Austin's comments were random, as they always are. He has not spoken of "the fire" recently, but past lives are still on his mind.

It sounds like maybe you and your son are back together after the car crash. That would be interesting to explore in the regression.

Maybe we are, but I've had two regressions, and have seen nothing of a possible car crash death. I do believe we were definitely together in a mid to late 1800s life. This life has come up during both of my regressions, and it mimics my current life. I believe I am working on getting that one right, as it did not end well. At least it feels like he was the son I had in that life. I am hopeful that we now get the opportunity to live a full lifetime together.
