punished in a past life?

cloud potato

Nonfried potato in the sky = )
hey guys, if this thread already exist i apologize for the double thread.
i was just wondering how many here feel like they've been punished by society for something that is considered allowable today? i wonder if the line of thinking and/or trauma carries over into the next life or how it might effect your decision making in this life?

What is allowable today is often done in such a way to break people down further as it is often politicized, as for society I have only distrust and disdain as it is still backwards though it may have improved in some ways it certainly has gotten worse in others. As for being punished just living in modern society for some is punishment for existing let alone ones actions both real and imagined. Not all souls fit the mold.

isn't it something? we are either unknowingly conforming to societies expectations as dictated by humanities current level of progress or we are rebelling and find ourselves disappointed with the affairs of man. for this reason i am fond of gurunaths declaratoin, "self peace for earth peace." you don't realize how little peace you actually have until you are among the people. to think of our habits and dependencies developed from todays world, what a trip.
my curiosity branches from personal afflictions and habits which made me think about others and their past lives, where once disgraceful actions are accepted or common place today. that doesn't make today any better or worse.
tanker, what a great attitude. i suppose i wonder if people who are anxious for no reason or told they think or worry to much have any past life trauma where they may have been killed because society did not accept behavior that carried over into the current incarnation.

There are different types of rebelling, I suppose. Often I come across various different people having their personal goals, and becoming a kind of activist, promoting their ideas, usually in opposition to something which is going on in the world. That's fine. But when we are surrounded by numerous such voices, the world can seem a hectic and stressful place. Taking a path towards inner peace is a form of rebellion, since it is rejecting all that clamour and noise in search for inner tranquillity. This doesn't need to imply being passive, it is still possible to engage with the world.

As for this, "others and their past lives, where once disgraceful actions are accepted or common place today. that doesn't make today any better or worse". I do get the feeling that there is a kind of belief system, "if only we could eliminate (preferably by severe punishment) such-and-such, then the world would be perfect". However, that desire to inflict punishment on others seems to me to be a form of deranged mentality, though it is something which is openly proclaimed. The one thing which remains the same is the extent to which people judge one another. I don't mean in the legal sense, there is a need for some sort of order in society, but as individuals we may condemn others for perceived or imagined misdemeanours. This trait seems as old as humankind. I do think there is a need for more compassion in our dealings with our fellows, though this is an individual journey, I don't expect society at large to change any time soon.

Yep, had a violent run-in witch hunters for practicing herbal medicine in 1664. Growing up, whenever I got into trouble, it felt like someone was beating me up.
So It’s likely In my book that capital punishment carries over to the next life. :)

Hi Twilight :) I love your pug. :D
Wow, that's something and exactly what I was wondering. Do you still practice herbal medicine today? I think sometimes we run into those who may not have been so kind to us in a past life, or vice versa and perhaps we are given an opportunity to experience peace and forgiveness. We may not always be aware of the depth of our connection with someone. So it's prudent to make peace in this life as often as possible. I think this might allow us the opportunity to experience a completely different reality... life beyond this incarnation. Just a thought. Do you since feel alleviated from your anxieties?
