A colleague's six-year-old son has been experiencing flash-back memories since the age of three. He has a constant companion, called Dudley, who is not an invisible friend type - in fact the child is afraid of him. More recently his mother (who incidentally is an experienced trauma nurse) took him to an outdoor funfair. When she took him by the "bouncy-castle" he again became hysterical. She is exteremly worried about him, more so now because he is trying to suppress these images, but with little success and with the added stress such actions bring.
