Today, while I took a nap, I had a bit of fragment of a PL through a dream. I would say it was more of a continuation of another memory. I was a man in Ancient Greece (a PL I already had known of) in a sort of round room that was rather richly decorated. I was sitting rather grimly at a round table, reading something on a scroll. My panoplia was sitting beside the table, properly stacked up. A slave of mine, a young boy of 14 or so, came in and I made him carry my armor outside. I took my scroll which I remember mentioned "We are called to fight against...because....prepare and march...". It made very angry and I was dumbfounded of the futility of the 'campaign',if that is what you can call it.
The scene than switched to me laying on the ground outside on a battlefield, well more like a 'corpse field'. I had very bad wounds throughout my body, which I will not describe. As well, an arrow or two through my neck and arm. I had passed out and I came to realize what had happened. I heard the sound of agonizing men, some were crying other screaming or growling. It was not very agreeable. I then tried to get up, but could not and a I felt a great surge of pain. My movement somewhat impacted the arrowhead inside my throat, which obstructed my breathing. I knew then, that I was doomed.
In my last moments, I thought about Sparta who had made my city fight without consideration. I felt quite a lot of resentment towards her, and wished to have joined the 'other side'. I then hated war, as well. I pondered on all the death and suffering that it brings. I then looked up towards the sky and lost consciousness.
Shortly after, I found myself hovering over my corpse. I had no more 'passionate' emotions on the events, I just stared blankly at the battle field. I looked at the corpses of the men I had known, took a last look at myself, then I went up.
I have a bit of a verification request. After having this dream, I made a bit of research online and I discovered that certain cities in the Peloponnese, had to fight when Sparta ordered them to. Since this was in theory the case for me, perhaps, if you know a bit of history, tell me which City-States were obliged to do so. As to give an indication, 'mine' was rather small and I think, more east. I also believe this was during the Peloponnesian War or shortly after. Although I am not sure.
