Other lives

Well, I've already posted a thread about the life I believe I lived in Scotland. I have no concrete memories, but I do have some other ideas that I think are worth exploring. I thought I'd take this chance to write them down and maybe get some thoughts on them.

When I was a child, I was obsessed with Japan. I love the old culture, and thought the country was so beautiful. I'm not really sure where I originally learned about Japan. I don't really remember learning about it. I remember being incredibly disappointed when I found out what Japanese culture was like today. I had a Japanese barbie and she was absolutely my favorite. When I had coloring books, I always thought the girls that I did in Asian coloring were the most beautiful. However, I made a very strong distinction between Japanese and Chinese, and would get upset when someone mixed them up.

I had a dream a few years back where I was in a gray stone courtyard. I was a young girl, maybe 6 or 7? I was walking with a friend, when we stopped in the middle of the courtyard. I vomited a mass of white worms, and panic broke out. It gets fuzzy after that, but I believe I fell to the ground. Panic erupted immediately, but no one appeared concerned with me at all. The dream, oddly, had no feelings, just images. I have no idea if this is past-life related, but I rarely have dreams that are at all plausible or don't involve recognizable people from this life, so I thought it was worth noting.

It seems that a lot of people have a distaste for the middle ages, but I've always loved medieval things. I was fascinated by the clothing at a young age, and castles interested me immensely. My boyfriend has often about how I must have been royalty in a past life or that my ancestors were royalty. It's a little thing, but I find it interesting that, despite all the horrors of it, the middle ages are something that I like. I was actually surprised to find out how horrible they were. If I did live in the middle ages, I had a good life.

I have a bit of an obsession with Henry VIII, and have ever since I learned anything about him. I devour books about the man, though by now there is really no more information. At first I thought I was more interested in his daughter, Elizabeth, but realized after a while that I actually had no interest in her life after her father's death. I don't think this necessarily means that I lived in his court or anything, but it wouldn't surprise me to find out that I lived during that time. I think all his people were fascinated by him, and people throughout Europe as well.

The last thought I have is that I feel I must have been a sailor or some kind of sea traveler. My first thought was Viking, though with my limited knowledge, I realized that it could be any kind of person sailing on a small vessel. I have always been afraid of ships sinking, from a young age. This never struck me as odd, however. But one thing that really got me thinking was actually from one of the Pirates of the Carribbean movies, oddly enough.

I don't remember which movie it was, but there is one point where the group is sailing on a small ship in the middle of the ocean at night. They show an image of the stars, only to reveal that it is a reflection on the water as the ship cuts through. That struck me the moment I saw it, and I realized what bothers me about being on the ship is just how isolated you are, and how vulnerable. If anything happens, you're alone, and that terrifies me. Just the other day I saw the movie Pirate Radio. (Great movie, by the way!)

***Spoiler Alert***

Near the end of the movie, their ship begins to sink. At one point most of the people on the ship are towards one end while the other end is underwater. I had a really strong reaction to watching the people with seemingly no chance of rescue in the middle of the ocean. I felt like I wanted to simultaneously cry and vomit. Luckily, I did neither.

***End Spoilers***

However, this reawakened my thoughts about my possible past as a sailor of some kind. Definitely on a small ship--watching Titanic didn't give me nearly as strong a reaction as small ships do.

Anyways, those are all my thoughts at the moment. Any comments or opinions on these? Valid? Not valid?

I'm hoping that maybe with some meditation practice I can actually get some memories of these things. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for sharing, very interesting.

I don't think anyone can tell you if your thoughts are valid or not, but they certainly sound as if they could be influenced by past life memories. I can relate to your obsession with King Henry, I had a similar obsession with Lord Nelson when I was a kid, and I later discovered a past life where I served in his Navy, so maybe you were around during Henry's reign ;)

Best thing to do is to continue practicing with the meditation like you said, and the memories will surface if you're meant to remember them.

Good luck and keep us posted :)

Very interesting, Lady of Shalott! I agree, those are definitely worth exploring further. Isn't it funny how, once we 'accept' the possibility of past lives, we begin to notice even the smallest aspects of our current life and wonder about a connection?

The grotesque side of my curiosity cannot imagine what the dream in the courtyard represented. A fear over an infectious disease?

I have no idea what the courtyard dream was about, but it was certainly very strange. One of a few dreams that has really stuck with me through the years.

Since as of right now I have no validation, I just have to wonder which of these things, if any, is significant, and which is not. It's very strange. It seems like any little thing could possible point to a past life. There are many small things that I haven't even listed here!

Anyways, thank you both for the encouragement.

That one reaction were you almost threw up seemed to point to some deep down link to being a sailor at some point in your past .

Lady of SHallot you could do a regression around one of the lives that are less stressful .. and do some practice around relaxing and becoming comfortable with the process.

THen you can go back to that sailor life and find out more detail and get to know more.. ie who the other people in that life were and what you were doing--== what is is deep down that provokes that reaction from you. Doing a regression to the time right after death can also be helpful. By going into your feelings you can unravel some of the reasons for that reaction. SOmetimes it will happen that you remember another life as another layer is needed in order to understand the whole of the dynamics for your feelings.

It is important to relax and stay positive with thoughts of the help you will get from delving into your past. I often pick a theme of the week.. the thought that is often on my mind for that week.. ie something bothering me .. an argument I had, a fear I am going back to ,some person who is annoying me. ..always with the theme that I am going to heal and feel better.

I often use the tension in my body to bring memories to the surface. If I have any tension in my body then I know that I want to heal that pain , With that eagerness to heal I will feel more commitment to remembering . Then I relax and do a prayer . I beleive that there is a higher power who wants the best for me.

I definitely want to remember, but I don't have the money to get a professional regression, and haven't had any luck meditating yet. I'm going to keep working at meditation to see if I can come up with anything.

The fears and reactions to most of those images seem to indicate that these are connections to past lives. Emotions play such a big part in our memories, whether they are of big or little events.

When you mentioned the lack of feelings in the courtyard one where you threw up, it made me think perhaps it's a symbolic dream. In my opinion, dreaming of throwing up something seems to be a way of getting rid of it. However I can't tell you what that dream may symbolize to you. Only you will know that.

Good luck with the meditations and feel free to share the results if you are comfortable with that.

Using a different audio, I finally got something during a meditation session. I have no idea if I made this up or if it was real, but I know I'm at least getting somewhere. Before I was never able to really picture anything at all. I jotted down some notes right after, so I wouldn't forget anything. The more I think about it, more of the things that I took for granted when I first wrote it down are sticking out to me. This is going to be pretty long, just a warning.

The first thing I noticed was that it was nighttime in a forest. The trees were tall and thin. There was a small clearing with a fire, that was kept low, dim with little smoke. I believe that this was some kind of ritual, but there was only a small group of women. I believe this was my first time to be a part of the ritual. I think there was one or two other girls with me who were also taking part for the first time. If I had to guess, I would say we were teenagers. I felt, oddly, both younger and older than myself (I am 21).

I looked down at my hands. They were thin and a warm light brown. I looked down at my feet. I was surprised to see that I had shoes on. I expected to be barefoot. I tried imagining myself barefoot but it felt wrong. The shoes were like leather but much softer. I thought they looked kind of like the petals of a tulip sewn together. Very simple with no adornment. I tried to look to see what I was wearing, but I couldn't see it. I tried to imagine that I was nude, but that felt wrong. I did get the feeling that we weren't wearing very much, though. I was surprised that we were not cold.

An older woman was talking, who I felt like I should be giving respect to, but I wasn't listening. I impatiently wanted to get on with the ritual. I was excited about the ritual, which seemed to have some amout of secrecy around it, but I think I had been looking forward to being able to take part for some time.

The recording then told me to, on his command, move to the next important event in this person's life. When he said that, my immediate thought was that it would be my wedding. However, when he gave the command, I saw myself standing on some kind of wooden scaffold. My first thought was that this had to be wrong, I was supposed to be at my wedding. I tried to imagine the wedding, but this persisted.

I didn't look at myself, but I felt like I was more fully clothed than in the first vision. There were people around, but they were not my people. I think we were in a town. I remember women in black dresses with white aprons. I tried to imagine myself in that outfit, but it felt wrong.

The pervading feeling during this part was that it was all wrong, that this shouldn't be happening. Not the same kind of wrong as when I tried to imagine the clothing, but a wrong as if it wasn't my mind that was wrong, but that the world was wrong. I believe that this was a hanging or beheading, some kind of execution. I was fearful but also serene. I showed no emotion outwardly. I believe some of my friends or family were also there, but behind me somewhere. I never looked back and I held my head high. The last thing I remember was the sureness that I was going to die.

I stopped at that point. I'm not sure what would have happened after. The emotions weren't completely clear. It was almost as if I was only half in the scene and half out of it. This was definitely not what I was expecting when I decided to meditate on past lives. This was not a life that I expected to find. I still don't know if I imagined it. I looked for the shoes afterward because they were nothing I had ever seen before, but I haven't been able to find anything like them.

Anyways, any thoughts from people more experienced than I am?

Thank you, Lady of Shalott, for sharing. I'm happy to see you're having some success.

You are definately not alone wondering if you made the whole thing up. The first time I did a regression, I was almost convinced that I did. Then someone said something to me that stopped me dead in my tracks. "What reason do you have to make it up?"
....none

I wasn't excited about what I saw, and I had no intention of telling people I knew. I didn't/wouldn't make up what I saw. At least not on purpose. Like myself, you did not see what you expected to see. I would think that if you or I would make up a story, it would fulfill our expectations.

The shoes are interesting, and in their own way validating. If they are not anything you've seen before, then they not likely to be something you've pulled out of your memory from somewhere else. If they looked like something you'd seen in a movie before, for example, then its not very validating. Your mind might just be fulfilling what it would expect to see from a particular time.

I'm not saying whether the momories are real or not. It's possible they are. I'm just providing different angles to look at them from. : angel

I agree with everything Truthseeker said. I don't think most people would want to wear shoes that look like petals sewn together...possibly a validation point!

Could the "ritual" have been a fertility practice/celebration? It's possible that even the shoes were ceremonial (a flower opening) and the fact that you felt both younger and older could represent that you were younger of a true age but older as in approaching that point of becoming an official woman in the community's sense. Perhaps that life was a time in the world where peasants still held onto to folkish/pagan type of practices, and the gentry sweeping the land found the practice to heretical in nature. If you were the centerpoint of that particular event that day, what if you were unfairly branded as an outcast? Just my thoughts rambling away...

My fear is that I made up the memories because I wanted to remember so badly. However, what makes me wonder if they are real is that this was definitely not a life I had been trying to remember!

I agree that if the things I saw were something I had seen before, it would be more suspect. The point that I keep coming back to is the shoes, since they were definitely the oddest thing.

LOL. Well, I didn't think that the shoes were ugly. What I remember most is that they were incredibly comfortable. I have no idea if they were my normal shoes or special for this.

I have no idea what the ritual was for. I didn't really focus on that, nor did we even get to the actual ritual during the part I remembered.

I think I was younger in true age, probably a teenager, but this did seem to be some sort of coming-of-age thing that I was allowed to take part in the ritual.

It was never made clear in the memory why I was being killed, but I inferred that it was because of my "pagan" (as you put it) acts. I do feel like there were other people who would be killed that day, but I may have been the first.

I felt like the people killing us were "outsiders". I didn't want to show them any weakness. I was a lot stronger and more sober than the girl I had been at the ritual, who was just a silly teenager with not a worry in the world.

During the witch craze of the 1500s and 1600s, pagans were executed all the time. Anything non-Christian was was seen as evil. Lady of Shalott, did you get any sense of where or when this was? I know burnings were the popular choice of execution in France and Germany, but (if I remember right) witches were usually hanged in England. Until the French Revolution, beheadings were usually reserved for executing nobility.

I didn't actually get a clear idea of what kind of execution this was. I didn't see a pyre or anything for burning, and there definitely wasn't a guillotine. I'm not really sure how I was going to die. What I remember is being up on a wooden platform with people around, watching, and I was waiting to die.

I didn't really have a sense of a time period or date. My only clue to that seems to be in the second scene. I remember black dresses with white aprons, a wooden platform, and I think I was in a town at that point.

It seemed like I might have been a native American, but I don't really know. My clue to the location would be the trees, but I don't know enough about trees to identify them.

I never got a really solid sense of place or time.

If you were native american then possibly the shoes seemed foreign to your culture..

In my first regression I was asked to look at the shoes I was wearing. It was very easy for me { someone who is not at all visual} to have the picture right away from that life. So maybe there is some particular resonance we have with our feet { a grounding of our spirit/soul to the body we hold in a certain life} that has made you focus on what was happening to your feet in that life.

During the regression the shoes did not seem strange, although I expected to be barefoot. To the other me, the shoes seemed normal enough. Outside of the regression, I do think the shes are strange. They are like nothing I've seen before.

Interesting theory about the feet. It certainly would explain why I saw the shoes so clearly and could not see the rest of my body!

I used the Weiss regression audio again, and had quite a different experience.

This time I never felt quite as if I could get far enough under. When he counted down from 10, I started to feel dizzy... as if the world was shaking violently. I tried to end the sensation with my mind, but that didn't work. I ended up opening my eyes when the sensation was too strong, and it abated. I did close my eyes and try again, and it came back but to a lesser extent, and went away fairly quickly. Very strange.

In the regression Weiss says to see many mirrors, with images of myself in them. At this point, I fear that I am not deep enough to see anything, but I get a couple glimpses. The first thing I see is a woman with brown hair piled on top of her head. I try to see other images, and am in fact, searching for something from a past life I already suspect, but the only other thing I even get a glimpse of is a man in a tall, pointed hat. I barely got an impression of that one, and nothing else.

So I go to the mirror of the woman with the hair piled on her head. She is wearing a dress of brown plaid, in a style that looks to me to be what was worn around the time of the American Civil War. Similar, but not exactly like this:

POH-1L.GIF

My first reaction to her is to see her through the mirror and desire to hug her. I try to do so. I don't immediately see her as myself.

I am told to step through the mirror and I do so. I am not immediately in her body, but I sort of force myself to see things from her perspective. As her, I look down at my feet, as instructed. I wore black boots that buttoned up to my ankles. I then looked at my hands. Thin and pale.

I looked around me. I was in a house with wood paneling, nicely carved. It wasn't an overly ornate place, but it was certainly nice.

Weiss instructed to go back and forth in time to important events in this person's life. All I could see was her/me going to a small shop of some kind. I began to get annoyed, thinking that this wasn't working and getting frustrated.

Just then, my right arm started to hurt. I focused my attention there, and it intensified. I saw myself as lying on a bed of some sort, in the upstairs of the house, I believe. I was quite sick, and my arm was in extreme pain. It hurt about halfway down my upper arm and just below my elbow.

The pain intensified, and I began to get scared, so I opened my eyes. The pain in my arm began to fade away, but it was several minutes before it was completely gone.

I think that they cut off my arm. I also think I died anyway. :/

My first impression was to think this was all imagination, but the pain was real, so I'm not sure what to think.

Reaction

I had a completely visceral reaction out of the blue today, to a photo and place name. I was looking through my cousin's facebook photos and came upon this...

The photo:

n55001450_30142224_9201.jpg

The place: Lawrence, Kansas, a town I have never even heard of before today.

Apparently the bell came from our grandmother's farm in the mid-1900s in Lawrence, Kansas. I was not aware that our Grandmother had a farm, though I did know she lived in Kansas, as my dad was born in a different part of the state.

It was a very strange experience. I didn't get any kind of vision or memory, just a very strong reaction, especially to the name. Very strange.

Hi Lady,

I must have missed your last post about your regression with the Weiss cd. To me it sounds like a typical experience - typical in the sense that you were fully aware and doubted that it could be real, even felt that you were forcing the memories and was disappointed by the results. I've tried that so many times too.

But reading your post, at least to me, it sounds like you did have get something out of the regression. When I've had such a 'disappointing' session and write about it afterwards, I often realize that I actually experienced much more than I immediately thought. Do you feel the same way about your regression?

Why do you think they cut your arm off? :)

As to the bell: it's a beautiful picture. You may have mentioned this somewhere else, but do you think the woman in your regression and your grandmother were related?

I didn't feel any connection between the regression and the feelings surrounding the photo. I didn't feel like they were the same place or time at all or really at all connected.

After more thought about the regression I do feel like I got more out of it than I initially thought, but I still wonder if there was any reality to it.

I got the impression, though it wasn't explicitly stated in the dream, that my arm got infected somehow and I guess wasn't treated in time. (Were there treatments for such things back then? I don't know.) I seemed to get the impression that everything they were doing was too little too late. Cutting off my infected arm when nothing more could be done, but too late (or maybe something went wrong with the surgery?) and they were unable to save my life.

The bell photo was taken by my cousin, whose farm it resides on now, in Arkansas. I have never seen it before, or known it existed, but I had such a strong reaction. I really don't feel like the people were related between this and the regression. There didn't seem to be any connecting thread. They felt completely different, if that makes sense.

Here is a photo of the Douglas County courthouse in Lawrence, Kansas. Just thought you might find it interesting. This is on Massachusetts street:
