Memory Triggers

I can't drink any kind of coffee. Except black with a lot of sugar... : angel It lessens the headache.

Chai spice!? When I saw that, I thought they used that for curry.. Must be the word spice. And how on Earth did the topic changed to beverages!? LOL

I said something about tea. I tend to have that effect on people :P

Even if it's an accident. It's a little unnerving though.

I live on the East Coast and have visited many of the historic sites. The place where I felt the most was in Philadelphia at Independence Hall. You could almost feel them in the room.

Then again, I am a descendant of John Hancock. Maybe I was there before ;)

Earlier this year, in May I believe it was, I had been walking to the bank. Right next to this bank, on the other side of the street is a small school playground. I was just walking casually when the recess bell went off and that made me jump because it was just like the alarm bells in the U-Boats.
The worst for me would be playing Silent Hill as before it turns into the otherworld in that game, an air siren would be played and Silent Hill 2 air siren sounds a lot like the WW2 German air siren so.. :freak:

I'm oddly not very bothered by sirens. There is a firehouse not far from where I live that has an old siren that sounds just like an air raid siren.

Nor am I bothered by loud explosions.

It's a totally different thing...U-Boat warfare...so what might affect those who were on land during WWII, will probably not even phase me and vice versa.

Eh, I know that. I saw a documentary on it before with a veteran talking about it. But when I heard the alarm bell.. The sound goes 'AWWOGAA!' or something like that... I actually laughed because I could have swore I heard it as a car horn on an old 1930's car. The scary thing there is to hear the AWOOGA sound... And your captain screaming his head off, of course..

But air sirens= pain-in-the-ear

It is going to be intensified now... The rainy weather is here and it has been raining heavily with thunder storms and just a few minutes ago, the house started shaking as though an Air raid is on. I could not study....

Yeah ours wasn't like that - didn't make that type of noise. The school bell that I heard sounded like the one you hear on Das Boot. If you even watch, not the Director's Cut version but the Uncut version - there is a part early on in the movie where I believe it is Thomsen, is at the bar and there is a phone nearby which rings. From what I can recall, as it's been a few years since I saw this version, he was startled by it. And I have noticed that with older phones that have the actual bell ringer to them because they've bothered me too.

I'm kind of glad for my little tracfone where I just have 'Love is Blue' as the ringtone on it!

I know that :D it just sounds similiar. Since then, I have been itching for my phone to record the air-siren. I will never wake up late to school again! Or face the wrath of the Lancaster Bombers! On Audio! Muahaha!! (Please ignore me, I'm in my psychotic mode.. Side effects of my PL..)

That's funny though! Air raid ringtone...

Some U-Boat sites have that ASDIC 'ping' and I hate that as well so I turn the sound off.

Speaking of these triggers - there was an incident that happened to me way back in October '04, I believe that was the year (so much has happened since then!). They were calling for rain and I just figured that 'that's that' then and went to bed for the night.

Sometime during the night, the hot water heater in the above apt. (this was when I still lived in low income housing) busted. Now, I was in deep sleep - I didn't know anything about it because I didn't hear anything.

Around 5.30 am, I heard this faint 'drip-drip' noise. I figured it was the rain they were calling for hitting the window, and thought nothing more about it. I kept hearing this 'drip-drip' noise and being in a half-sleep/half-awake state still I had trouble trying to figure out more about where this dripping was coming from. So I waited for it to happen again and it did. Then as I was waking up a bit more, I realized it sounded just like water hitting a soaked carpet.

Well that's what it was.

I shook myself awake to realize that the ceiling was ready to cave in on top of me, there was water running down the inside of the closet, the carpet was soaked, and there was about an inch to two inches of water in the bathroom floor. I grabbed the phone and called the landlord/management and told them what was going on. I then had to get all my furniture and computer out of that room I was sleeping in and move it to another.

Well needless to say - for months afterwards, I had EXTREME difficulty sleeping whenever I would hear a particular dripping sound. It took a good three months for the 'edgy-ness' to die down, but I am still bothered a bit by the drip noise made by leaks. I think that there is a connection between this situation having possibly 'triggered' something from back then - because I did have the dreams regarding leaks in the U-Boat, etc.

Both the Carlos Puebla and Nathalie Cardone versions of the song "Hasta Siempre". If you've heard the song, easy enough to figure out. What I usually see is Che getting on a boat of some sort and leaving as the crowd follows after bidding farewell.

I now play Black Ops to Nathalie Cardone's version. :cool

And "Guantanamera". Ironic how I knew how that song went BEFORE I heard it. I get funny looks when I sing that song. Whenever I hear that song or sing though, I immediately think of a street fair in Havana, and a small musical group singing that.

Lol. Air-raid ringtone?? You hath given me an idea... I joke to my mom about waking her up with "The ship's hit an iceberg!" I wouldn't really : angel , but it has given me the brilliant idea to record artillery explosions and wake up to that every morning. Or, fly awake to be more precise. I about died in an artillery barrage in Stalingrad. I doesn't like artillery anymore.

The thunder once rumbled too much like an air raid, it did not matter that it had no air siren. I immediately jumped up and karate chopped the bedpost and I have some blue-black marks on my hand... : angel

I have difficulty sleeping if I hear the slightest footsteps. It is mostly cause I was chased to my death by the Nazi hunters. But I now know that the one chasing me was wearing high heels. She was a British Intel. Killed me, eh? So, now I'm only afraid of those sounds that sound like high heels.

Oh, reminder to self: its not funny to play the Soviet Anthem to a sleeping Soviet. She'll jump and salute and literally yell 'Glory to the Motherland' in Russian. :cool

I love thunder...especially the very loud kind...oh and wind...much wind. I love storms :D Nothing like the forces of Nature to let mankind know who still rules around here.

As far as ringtones go...I'll be sticking with my 'Love is Blue'.

:D Rofl

Wake me up with "Yankee Doodle" and I will fly out of bed, ready to knock some heads together. How dare you American's twist our song mocking you!

But ah.....I'm American, so that would mean my head as well :freak:

That's happened to me too. Even though I realize it's just a thunderstorm I'm think about as it's waking me up. Once, I don't think I was entirely awake, I was going through all these emotions of being scared and wondering what would happened if a bomb dropped on me. Deep down, I knew it was just a storm, but I still had those feelings.

And, guess what I'm doing?! I downloaded an air raid siren ring tone and set my alarm for three something in the morning, so I guess we'll see what kind of effect that has on me!

I didn't know Yankee Doodle was twisted. Whenever I hear that, I'm somehow reminded of Napoleon, on his horse. But the one that freaks me out is 'Big Bad Wolf' the song that goes 'Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf....' that and Ring o' Roses.

Kindly do not play it near WW2 survivors. Those poor chaps don't have to hear that again! I heard some stories of rascals playing air sirens and their poor grandparents woke up and grabbed his gun.

I keep telling myself about the scientific things about thunderstorms but the only thing that gets through is: Bombs, bombs, bombs. The fear has lessen though, I can sleep through it now.

Oh, I won't. My grandmother remembers the air raids from when she was a little girl. Actually, now that I think of it, maybe I should replace my the ringtone I chose for my dad when he calls me. I thought the siren would be fitting because he is always causing trouble, but what if that went off while I was visiting my grandparents?!

Anyway, it did go off last night when my dad called and I jumped, but when it went off as an alarm I just turned it off. I was entirely too tired.

I experienced something interesting last night that I'd like to share. I was at my mom's house last night and they had a movie on the TV. It was not a movie I'd seen or heard of before (I think it was one of those made for TV movies), but I found myself riveted to it. The central character in the movie was a deaf girl. I found myself strongly sympathizing and even feeling a strong identification with her.

This is not the first time I've felt this way either. Years ago there was a movie I remember seeing that revolved around a deaf girl that I had similar feelings. In fact, I always had kind of a connected feeling to the deaf. I don't get that same kind of feeling for blind people, for example. No offense to the blind, but somehow I don't believe that there are any blind members on this forum. : angel

Anyway, while watching the movie last night it raised the question in my mind. Was I deaf in a past life? I have no memory of this, but it seems that it is a reasonable possibility. The movie seemed to serve as some kind of memory trigger for me, or at least triggered a feeling.

Severe Reactions

I watched a Whaling documentary (entitled 'American Experience: Into the Deep - America, Whaling and the World) last night and well...let's just say, depending on your point of view, it was either a good thing or it opened up a lot of stuff. I had such an extreme reaction to that documentary that I'm almost uncomfortable with it. Keep in mind that I've watched horror films, suspense, and thrillers right before going to bed and not have any problems whatsoever...but I did so much as watch a simple film on Whaling and the poo hit the fan.

Incidentally when I was watching it, I also had on a shirt I found at a salvation army store that matched the one I was wearing in the original dream I had of being a whaler. This was all during my 19 c Finnish lifetime...I had gone out whaling before becoming a sea captain.

Sooo.... Sometime after 4 am it must have started...all the subconscious fireworks. It was one thing after another - one dream, one vision...whatever...after another. It was bad enough that I had to wake myself up out of it.

*sighs*

Now personally I have had a life or lives with the Plains Indians in the old days when they were living on the plains and living their lives around the buffalo. But yesterday while I was just going around on the web, I came across some nice photo taken I believe in eastern Montana overlooking a prairie river, the cottonwoods along the river in their fall colors, and the surrounding prairie hills. Now I personally could NOT take my eyes off of the photo!!! And instantly I was taken back to that time, could see the tepees along the river, the people living in harmony, walking along the river, the sense of peace I had when in that life living in the old ways, and all bigtime. It was quite some unexpected experience.

A past life trigger for me was the traveling exhibit of King Tutankhamun, when it was in my area. The triggers were not in the area where the tomb objects for Tutakhamun was, but in the area of his father, King Akhenaten. I also found out that I didn't like Akhenaten's royal wife Queen Nefertiti. I thought she was arrogant.

I was listening to "Moscow Nights" by Red Army Choir, and I couldn't help but imagine walking home in Moscow in the middle of the night all alone, sometime in the 40s/50s.

"It's a Long Way to Tipperary" also had me thinking about watching a parade through London as the soldiers were leaving for the front in WWI (I had just enlisted not long before hand) and also singing it while tending the boilers on the boat.

"All you ever do besides your job is hum that song. Why do you do that?" I was asked.

And

I've had a similar experience. I've never liked Augustus Caesar's wife Livia. For pretty much the same reason that you don't like Nefertiti. I always thought Livia was arrogant, snobbish and thought about no one but herself (and that her whole marriage to Augustus was just to give her a name).

Of course, this was before I read anything about her. Needless to say, my dislike for her has risen.

This is an older thread but I was looking for somewhere to post this...

I've mentioned a few times on here that my last life ended in a sudden car accident with a semi truck. Well, I was watching the movie the 'DaVinci Code' with my family Thanksgiving day. In the movie there is a moment where the character Sophie is having a flashback to her childhood. In the scene she is riding in the backseat of the car as a little girl when suddenly the car violently collided with a semi truck. The shot was looking through the windshield and you seen the truck hit.

I've seen the movie before but had forgotten about that part. In the moment when the truck hit I think I jumped about 2 feet out of my chair. No one else in my family barely even blinked at that scene. I was so embarrassed that I had such a strong reaction to it, but even after I was nearly shaking and breaking out in a cold sweat. I couldn't believe that I reacted that badly, but I felt like I had just relived the last moments of my last life.

I guess I'm not over it as much as I thought.

If I see something, it can be a memory trigger and it come to me suddenly. I feel something that I miss to come back, my soul want to jump through time and I get an impression about my past life, my hand is drove to write down this impression word by word. I can't hold, I must write down. This situation comes to me almost everyday if I'm alone. Can someone explain why it can be?

The subconscious remembers, even if we don't.

There are some major scenes in our lives which are unforgettable.Happiest, saddest or scariest moments perhaps and our last minutes of course.Sudden, small events, and a smell,a sight,(senses..) can trigger greater impacts on us.

Vanderspoor, it's my opinion that this must be the right time for your memories to surface. It seems very important that you record them, as time allows. I think the memories come when we need them for our future development, for reasons only our souls know.

yes, BriarRose, as your advise when my past memories suddenly came, I record them in sequential notes. I think it's like collecting puzzle, putting them in right place. While I am doing these, I see like a door open before me and I found that I have two posibility past life. My second past life memories become more cleary day by day, my first is still blur but soon it will be clear too. All of these things make me realize why my personality like this, unusual not like other ordinary people. Thanks.

I think you hit on something important, Vanderspoor. Past life research can be an important step in self-understanding. Do you know the quotation, " Those who don't know the past are doomed to repeat it."? I want to understand my past lives so I can move on to new levels, instead of repeating my mistakes. I hope when you feel ready, you will start to post your memories. I am looking forward to reading them.

I wil tell you about my first past life and the second later because I have written the memories of the second in old indonesian. I found that I had a possibilty first past life, started from my interest about The Late QING Dynasty (my hairstyle is from that era too). I played a music - OST ASSASSINATION and suddenly triggered an impression. The first impressions that came to me were only about the year 1885 and the word " war ". I typed "1885" in google search and the result that my feeling lead me was SINO-FRANCO WAR. After that another impressions came to me, they were the words : Artillery, bombblast, fear, blood, French bombardier, running, hiding. They were from first day. I read the history of this war and I was been leaded to a name that was GUANGXI ARMY. But It was not still enough to make clear this case. it was second day. The next day suddenly I was been leaded to arrange the words becoming a story. I could write this instantly.

" I served as a soldier in ARTILLERY division of GUANGXI ARMY at the time of QING DYNASTY. In the year 1885, SINO-FRANCO WAR, a bomblast destroyed a cannon beside me, I jumped and laid down with my hand behind my head under my cannon. Fear came upon me, I saw blood splatting everywhere. The Frenchs were bombardier our position. We (the soldiers) wanted to run and hide but we couldn't. We were scattered and our moral was so low. I saw our commander stand beside an IMPERIAL flag and shouted to us not to give up. Would I see my family again or my life ended here? "
