Memories of a lost love

Miracles

New Member
Hi everyone,

Newbie here with a question.

For as long as I can remember I can recall a memory of walking hand and hand across a really green field with a man whom I know I loved dearly. There are hills in the distance and trees scattered about the landscape. The sky is overcast and the wind is blowing bits of hair into my face. I somehow know the month is June.
I feel so in love, so alive, so happy just to be with my guy. But I also have an odd feeling like I’m afraid I may get caught and that my family certainly wouldn't approve. I look at him as we’re walking along and he smiles at me. Then the vision usually ends and turns into a very horrible feeling of despair and sadness. After reliving the memory I always feel like bursting into tears because I experience such an intense feeling of loss. Nearly everyday of my life I have this vague sense of missing someone. But in this life I haven’t lost anyone who was very dear to me. So I was wondering, do you think it’s possible to miss a lost love from a past life?

Thanks for listening.

Hi Jessi,

So I was wondering, do you think it’s possible to miss a lost love from a past life?
I do think that at times our soul can yearn for those we've shared a special connection with in the past.

I think you might really enjoy Dr. Brian Weiss's book Only Love Is Real:

With Only Love Is Real, Dr. Weiss takes his research one breathtaking step further. He portrays two strangers unaware that they have been lovers throughout the long centuries, until they are brought together again.
He shows how each and every one of us has a soulmate whom we have loved in past incarnations and who waits to reunite with us now. And he opens up entirely new worlds for all of us everywhere, based on a single, powerful truth....
(Part of a post that was lost)

My personal understanding of soulmates isn't limited to a romantic sense - but extends to include others in your life as well. I believe that anyone in your present life/past lives could be a soulmate - from a sister, to an uncle - to the boy who delivers the newspaper.

Our roles continually change from life to life - but I believe we have a certain kinship with specific souls from different lifetimes. Even though our roles change - I don't believe that our love for those other souls changes.

Hi Jessi,

Yes, beyond a doubt. Remembering past lives often is triggered by intense emotional issues. Is there any more passionate emotion than love? For me there is not. You'll will find several of us here who are in the same boat. Look through the archives, or better yet just click on the search mode and enter it. My own story is there too. Do you think you know this person again in this life?

It's late here. I'll suggest a book or two tomorrow. Mean while check out the other threads.

Welcome, I'm glad you're here.

Hi Miracles,

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. It is an experience that many have shared, including myself. Who knows though, maybe you just haven't met up again yet?

Try not to be too sad about it if you can. Life is full of surprises. :)

You might take a look at these threads - Past Loves.http://www.childpastlives.org/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=7189

Lovers from a past life

There are many more. It is a very popular topic! Try a search on 'Soul mates'.

Hi Ailish,

Only Love Is Real seems like a great book. I love to read, so any books you can suggest are always welcome. :) I agree, I also think anyone can be a soul mate. I’ve often thought my Mom is one of mine.

Hi Tinkerman,

Thank you for the welcome. :) No, I don’t think I know him in this life. At least, not yet. However, I guess if it’s meant for us to meet again, we will.

Hi Tanguerra,

I enjoyed reading both threads. Oh I’m not sad about it all the time, just mostly after I’ve relived the memory. The weird thing is, the memory tends to come to me while driving which is more than a bit distracting!

I typed 'soul mates' into the search mode and it did come back with a lot of very interesting threads which I'm going to read now. Thank you all for your helpful replies. It is very appreciated!

Just as a side note: It's interesting how many people have PL experiences while driving, and often children start talking about their past lives spontaneously when driven in a car. Something about the movement and perhaps the sound makes us go easily into alterest states.

I hope you enjoy the threads, Jessi!

I think there is a mental state that people get into while doing a 'mundane' task such as driving - where you are attentive, but not really thinking about anything specific - so your mind is free to wander, but not too far. I have often had various insights while brushing my teeth or doing housework or things of that nature. I ride a motorbike, so allowing the mind to wander even a little bit is not recommended! If it does start to happen, I reign it back in!

Watching TV for instance is not conducive (unless you see something on TV that reminds you of something, of course), neither is reading and so on, because it occupies the mind too much. I think little kids get lulled into a sleepy state in the back of the car, which probably puts them in a similar state of mind to a grown-up who might have their mind in 'neutral'.

Then again, Miracles, it might be possible that there is some specific significant event that may have occurred in your most previous life involving a car trip?

Anyway, have you tried doing any meditation on this memory of walking in the fields to try to unearth some more information? There are various threads on different techniques.

Here are a few you may care to investigate:

How can I learn about my past lives

Let us know if you get any more insights.

Hi Karoliina, Hi Tanguerra, :)

That’s very interesting! I guess that explains why most of my memories come to me while driving or riding in a car. It’s possible that in my last life a significant event occurred during a car trip. I don’t think I stayed at home much in that life because of a deep love for traveling.

The life that I mentioned earlier I believe was in the 1800s. I don’t know why a life from so long ago would still be bothering me. It’s like there is some unresolved issue from that life in which I need to address. I just can’t figure out what it is. It’s like my subconscious mind has put up some kind of mental block and refuses to grant me access. I have tried meditating, but I always seem to snap out of the relaxed state if I ever try to discover anything about that life. I don’t have this trouble with other past lives. I’m going to try the techniques listed in the “active meditation” thread (Thanks for the links! :D ) tonight, and hopefully gain some insight.

Thanks, Karoliina! I have thoroughly enjoyed the threads I have read so far, and there are still plenty more to go. This forum is like a sea of endless knowledge.

Excellent Miracles.

You are not alone there! I thought I was just crazy when I had these sorts of feelings about someone I had never met, long before I really knew much about reincarnation or how it worked and so forth. Then I met him in real life, started remembering a whole lot more stuff, and it made a lot more sense! (I still wonder sometimes though! :) )

Don't try to force it. If your 'subconscious' has blocked it, there may be a good reason for that. It will come in its own good time. Have no fear, no doubt the universe is expanding as it should.

Pay close attention to your dreams. You may find when you start doing some organised meditation practice they tend to arc up a bit.

Hi Tanguerra,

I used to think I was crazy as well, for feeling things for what I thought was an “imaginary” person. It’s awesome that you met your guy in real life. :) That would be amazing!

I tried meditation again yesterday, but the blockage is still there. I hope it will come to me when the time is right. I just tend to be really impatient sometimes. However, I agree, it’s something that definitely cannot be forced.

I began meditating early this year, and noticed right away my dreams seemed to intensify. That’s when I also began having dreams of this “mystery man.” I recall one dream was very vivid. It was set in the past and I heard a voice from above say “He is your soul mate.” I hadn’t even been thinking of soul mates at the time. It was strange, to say the least…

-Jessi

Ah hah! Well, just keep at it and try to be patient.

Keep your eyes open when you meet someone new. You never know! It often seems to work that way.

I would try closing my eyes, relaxing and so on and then picture yourself in the scene you described earlier - walking in the meadow.Conjour it up as vividly as you can - smell the grass, feel the wind on your face - then when you have it really clear and are focussed, try to jump backwards or forwards in time to another scene from that life and see if you can learn more about what brought you there or what happened next.

I have always heard one meets a soul mate when least expected, so I guess it really does work out that way.

That’s a good idea. I will definitely try it. I really want to know what happened next. Hopefully I can shed some light on the mystery!

Thanks so much for the helpful advice! :D

This could be a wish fulfillment dream, but I doubt that because of the family wouldn't approve scenario. There's no way to know 100%, but my first instinct says this is a past life memory. I've often found that most PL dreams are pretty "simple," yet sometimes they can also be emotional. The man in your dream might even be a soulmate or twin flame watching over you in this life. There are sooo many possibilities about who this man could be to you, all of which I think are positive. :)

Kristin

Hi Kristin,

I have often worried the dreams and memories I have may just be wish fulfillment, but as you mentioned it probably isn’t so because of the ‘family wouldn’t approve’ scenario. I agree. I think if I were making it up I would have created a happier memory. When this memory arises I often have a horrible feeling of separation.

Whether he is a soul mate or twin flame, or something entirely different, I know he's very dear to my soul.

Thank you for your insight! :)

Hi Linbhunt,

I agree. What I find most amazing is how the soul remembers these connections after so many years and still feels so very strongly for past loved ones. I always thought I was completely alone with feeling like this, but I have found great comfort in knowing I’m not.

-Jessi

Hi LinB.

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds as though you have a story to tell. Would you like to share it? No pressure. Just if you want to.

Excellent observation. Certainly the case for me.
