Images of (unknown) faces during regression exercises.

Hello,

Lately, it seems that unknown images of faces have been the only imagry I've experienced during resgression exercises!

Has anybody experienced different images of unknown faces as the main (or only) results of PL regression exercises? Has anybody felt that such imagry may yield clues to possible PLs?

Enclosed is a link to my post discussing how Steven Halpern's audio recordings have yielded regresison results (if only images of faces).

Not just faces, no. I usually see the whole person and scene. Sometimes it's in motion, other times it's like a photograph.
 
Hi Marc, I have Halpern's 'Crystal Bowl Healing' cd. I enjoy playing it, but haven't used it during meditation. However, I think that's a great suggestion. When I regress, I can only see my feet, and the surroundings, as if I were in the body. You said the faces are of unknown individuals. I'm sure you have considered the almost limitless possibilities. Is there no sense of recognition at all? Perhaps they are people you are "destined" to meet, in following your life plan?
 
Faces seem to be a major thing with me too, Marc. I often see quick images of all different unknown faces, when I'm very relaxed, especially just before I fall asleep.


I've been working on self regression lately (only in the very early stages at the moment) and again, faces are very prominent for me. Strangers though, as you say, it's never the people I actually want to see! For example, I saw a battlefield, men charging towards my horse with pikes held aloft and I saw their faces, especially one, in detail (almost like a close-up in a film), angry and shouting. Not a nice thing! I just wish I could've seen more detail, aside from their faces! Something more datable. Perhaps next time. :)

For me personally, during self regression or dreams, there are two ways I will visually see memories. Sometimes, like BriarRose, I will only see what's around me because I'm viewing things through the body of my past life self. Or I will see things from a outside viewpoint, and see myself interacting with others.


Sometimes I get a really good look at the peoples faces around me, and other times my focus will be on something else (like a flag, sign, or the location), and the people just fleet past me.
 
My regressions have usually been looking out through the eyes of the person I was previously. But on rare occasions I have been outside of my body looking at who I was.
 
Not so much during regression, but often when I'm falling asleep I see very clear 'still' images of faces of people that I don't know, sometimes they can have expressions of various emotions like laughing, smiling or a surprised look. These faces appear so vividly that I can almost see them physically right in front of my eyes. I often wonder if these people actually exist, either now or in the past, or whether I'm creating them out of my imagination.

That mirrors my own experience exactly!
 
Same here ChrisR and Arrant. I touched upon this briefly above, but this is it exactly! They're gone in the blink of an eye for me, but in such vivid detail, young and old, happy and sad. A few have made more of an impression and I've been able to sketch them.
 
I feel like this thread is leading to some meaningful discovery. This seems to be a more common experience than I thought. I wonder if it's been documented in the "literature" of PL research? Whippoorwill, it will be interesting to see if anyone in your sketches "pops up" at a later time.
 
I also often see unknown faces just before falling to sleep. I once meditated on this and I got a "spiritual answer" : Those are the people you chose NOT to be...


I understood from this that, before we reincarnate, we (often, maybe not always?) can choose our next lifetime, and are shown some glimpses of possible lifes, amongst which we can choose.


Maybe that is one of the explanations that can be given to those unknown faces or glimpses of lives we see when we are getting in the alpha-state of consciousness.

My mom has had this happen to her. She would always see Civil War soldiers, in great detail - noticing the mens different beards & side burn styles....

There is another possibility here. Some people with certain psychic abilities claim to see spirits or ghosts, especially at night.

Yes, this is very true. I remember I was suffering terribly from the smell of cigarette smoke in my living room, to the point of it being unbearable... anyway, long story short, whilst bored one night I searched for answers online and came across a list of "ten signs you are psychic" or some such, and seeing flashes of unknown faces at night was there on the list. I was surprised as I'd always assumed it was just me and never really read too much into it. It was strange to see other people mention it online, even stranger to see people mention it in here!

From my own personal experience, I've been unable to discern any specific fashion styles; which may indicate speicifc time periods in history.


Once, I had seen brief imagry of a group of about four men (in a reddish-tinted photograph) wearing late 1800s to early twentieth century suits and black hats.


Another time, I saw an image of a fellow with red-hair with a beard wearing overalls. I'm uncertain if the overalls were of a factory worker, or a shop-keeper (as the overalls appeared clean; hence overalls worn by a shop-keeper). This appered to be a Mid-Twentieth Century style.


The images are usually stationary, and appear in black & white as often as they appear in color.


The most remarkable facial images I had seen appeared diagonal, sideways, and even once appeared upside-down.

Only lately I started to get images of a face or of a whole person just before I fall asleep. The persons were from a past life - sometimes I knew, sometimes I did not know who they were. Mostly the image was still like a photograph. It popped up suddenly only for a second or two, but so sharp and clear like someone had turned on a TV screen just in front of my eyes. It's very weird.


I'm glad, it's not only me, but also others who have this kind of experience.
 
Imagery experienced before waking-up, during meditation.


Lately, I've experienced a few facial images back-to-back just before waking up the last couple of mornings.


The black & white images were both constrained by frames, as well as images that had no boundaries. The images appeared somewhat grainy.


Again, the waking-up state has so far been most favorable for imagery of interest. Personally, I don't recall any imagery before going to sleep.


To return to the topic 'Images of Unknown Faces During Regression Exercises,' meditation imagery has so far (on rare occasions) offered experiences yielding imagery of interest for past-life recall.

That is a possibility that these may have been photos of relatives/friends in my past life.


More often than not, I've felt these were just random images of faces (unknown in both past, and present lives).


I once experienced meditation imagery of what appeared to resemble a black & white photo of my grandmother. I don't recall seeing that specific image in my present lifetime; as the photo I remembered pictured a lady who was smiling. My grandmother appeared stoic in her photographs.


One speculation may be that this may have been a close relative in my past-life, which may also to relate to the belief that similar facial features carry-over into future incarnations; that is similar facial features of unrelated relatives in both past and present lives.
 
An old thread and still an interesting topic.

Being a little girl I used to call this: looking pictures. I used to enjoy myself in this state of being half asleep and half awake by watching all kind of images. There were faces and sceneries but always at random. Never threatening always neutral. I also never had the feeling that those pictures had any relationship to myself, not even as a past life memory.

However, I did notice that when I had been concentrating on some kind of activity during the day, there would be related images at night before falling asleep. For example, when I had been picking blackberries all day, I would see beautiful spots with blackberries in my imagination. So there were two types of images: random pictures and sometimes pictures related to activities during the day.

This habit of seeing images seems to have gone for a couple of years. Only recently. What's left (and new) is that I now can enter a dream state while being awake. Just another fun thing, falling 'asleep' but not losing consciousness. This also has no other purpose than just amusement for myself. It's not lucid dreaming, I am not an actor in this dream state.

I do wonder. This habit of seeing images, does this makes it easier for us to 'see' images from past lives in regressions and flashes? What do you think about this? I don't know what it is like to never see 'things' and when you are such a person, do you find it difficult to 'see' former lives or is there no connection at all?
 
Hi, very interesting, I have noticed that I get most of mine in the early mornings, about 1-2 hours before the alarm clock wakes me. I watched an interview today with Ed and Lorraine Warren when Mr Warren said that "...during the sleeping state as you wake up you are in a good situation where a spirit can reach you because you are on the same astral level..."

I'm thinking this state could also be the opening door to images, feelings from past life/lives to come through.

hi, it has happen to me too that i see faces of people that i can not remember having seen in my life or on television, at first I dismiss those faces as i thought they had to be from this life's experience. now I at least "know" one of the faces as it has appeared in dreams that could be past life memories ( not saying it is as I know what I saw could have been influenced what my mind could have picked up about those days, although some things are still a mystery to me in that case, things I don't know... ). It was the face of my little brother in a life from the 1870-90's, he was so dear to me. He looked so fresh, always kind of boyish, he had red light hair.

What has sort of astonished me is that I lately started to wonder how much of our personality is inherit from one past life to the other. This because in the life in the 1870's-90's I was a big sister -- and I was always right ;) I was very protective of my little brother and of a servant-girl who was I think either my age but most likely a little younger, could also be her social status compared to mine while I felt more protective of her. So in that life I tried to be part of a suffragette movement and was later pushed into a marriage built on stormy ground; where he had trouble accepting my good self esteem ( which I had ), my curiosity, me questioning and not really caring so much what other people thought ( because again -- I was always right ). He use to think there was too much man in me to have made me the way I was, but from the look of it I was feminine.

Then in another life, I am guessing the life right after that one, i was very insecure, looking down much, did not think I had a pretty face and so on. In that life I was very much waiting for direction, I was co-dependent, I was a little sister who made my husband (oldest child) protective of me in all sorts of ways.

They both feel as if they are a part of me, I can identify with them both, yet I can't believe how different they were from each other. Anyway, back to the faces -- it was nice to finally see more of him, the little brother.

Jamie, since I'm just a few years younger than your PL aspect's flame James Dean, who I liked. I watched " Giant" again the other evening (3hours and 19 minutes). We used to get more "movie" for a ticket back then! I had not remembered it covering all of the current political topics that it did. A few evenings before that, I watched my favorite movie of all with James McKay being the "personality" that I wanted to emulate [but didn't].
Incidentally, Big Country is free to watch with Amazon Prime and Giant is less than $4. Beautiful horses in both films.

Getting back to the topic, the personality of a PL "me" was a female who's face was not clearly seen (or remembered), only that her black hair and style looted like a hat of some kind while thinking that the person was male.

I think it was years back when I found on ebay an old photograph of who I think was my past life self on a horse wearing Jimmy's western looking jacket, but no one has take notice of this oldish looking pic, of course, she was not big in the same sense, quite the opposite, or that it was Jimmy's jacket she was wearing (found pics on him wearing that jacket).

Before that, quite early when I started getting experiences with Jimmy (think while in the US) I would remember her visiting a horse and it was Jimmy's horse, later read he did on impulse actually buy a horse but later had to give it up around that period of time.

Don't know who took the picture of her on the horse, though, someone else or perhaps even him, I have no recollection of being photographed in my short memory of him and the horse and many times not even seeing a picture does anything for me; it does not trigger any more memory/memories, which I really thought it would do once my friend convinced me about past lives as an explanation (and also her remembering from before who I was ).

Seeing pics from her life that I don't remember has at times created a strange kind of tiredness, but that is about it. (then again this sadly sometimes happens to me in this life when one sees pictures like -- where were we when this was taken? No idea, but I don't get the same tiredness... ).

How interesting with you finding out about your past life and how you could easily have thought it was male, when it was instead female. :)

I do wonder why it is at times so hard to get a clear image of what one use to look like, I have even come as close to past life me doing her hair and the mirror is right there -- yet I can't get a clear image of her. Maybe it is to protect one self from getting too close ?

I did have an experience of seeing what is happening from a third person view. It was a dream where I see my former self interacting with others and the second one was an image, particularly a face of a blond man.
