Thanks, Cyrus. It is probably no worse than others I have read, but I appreciate the thought. The fact that others can remember so much more may really be due to the fact that they are, in some way, made of "sterner stuff"--tougher and more resilient--than I am in the part of themselves that experienced these things. What I experienced on the emotional side included the shock and anguish that many others have experienced in such deaths, but there was something else--a deep sense of hurt, a pain in the heart that was not due to a bayonet. I can still feel echoes of that hurt when I think about these things. I wonder if there was not some betrayal involved. Perhaps it was betrayal by a Russian officer or soldier of the type you spoke about in terms of German officers. Perhaps it was something that was also known to occur in that time, when German women and mothers would betray the hiding places of other females to save themselves or their daughters. Perhaps it was because I felt that God had let me down. But I think it must have been someone I trusted. I just don't know, and perhaps I don't want to know.
Hi, S&S:
Well, that PL of yours is better to be remembered as seldom as possible.
Betrayal is possible, especially for food, I guess.
I had a friend here in Spain whose grandfather had crossed by foot half Europe, and he told that one could have almost any woman one liked - a Rumanian, a Hungarian, a German... - just for a piece of bread, especially if that woman had children.
The Russian officers didn't practice that trick with a morning bullet in the head.
I think I can imagine what such a German officer could feel. Anything except pleasure. He was like a good pupil in school who wanted to satisfy his school masters and do what they taught him, but he didn't like it. The life in the German Army was extremely regulated and controlled, you had to follow strict step-by-step protocols even when going to piss: the instructions told exactly what you had to do before starting, during and after having finished pissing.
I can't interpret the significance of what happens to us in our PLs. I had good luck, I guess, in the 3 PLs I can more or less remember, even in that distant PL where I was first a Syrian slave - a helper to a local surgeon, and after that a domestic servant in a rich Greek family in Athens, though I couldn't find out how I finished that PL, but in the other two I died very young and fairly painlessly. Somebody told me this life of mine will be very long, because my karma will compensate me for the years I lost before. Who knows? I'd prefer not - I don't fancy to be compensated for my unlived young years then with the years of an old age now.
And one last thing. You must remember I once told you that the opaqueness of your amnesia veil might be the result of YOUR OWN choice before your last reincarnation. You wanted to investigate this.
Best regards.
IMHO.
