I think it would be quite interesting to know the different ways we recall our PL memories. It will give us a chance to see which methods seem involved the most. This one is pretty cut and dried, and you can vote for as many choices as you would like. Comments are always welcome . . . so how many ways do you recall your past life memories? While I may not have listed every possible way to recall our PL memories, I think I included to more standard ones.

As for me, I have recalled my Past Life memories through meditation, Imprinting/Instant Knowing, and PL dreams. Imprinting/Instant Knowing is basically an Instant Transfer sort of thing. Kind of like having a file downloaded onto your computer. You still have to figure it out, but you get all the information at once.

Interesting poll, John.

I checked almost everything on the list except self-guided regression and hearing voices.

Although I did have a couple of dreams several years ago, and i underwent regression earlier this year, for me it's mostly spontaneous memories, triggered by something internal or external.

There are a few ways I have experienced pl that are not listed. Memories triggered by touch with an individual. Memories that surfaced during body work, and memories that surfaced in the state of awareness that is in-between sleep and being awake. Right before falling to sleep.

Also - for me- I go into the Light in all cases listed in your poll except hearing voices. Can you explain more what you mean by hearing voices as they relate to Past Life memories and experiences?

Deborah, I think I know what "Hearing voices" means because that happened to me, too, twice; in one case it was suddenly hearing a voice say the words "De Witte Leeuw" in my ear/head (as I've described in the Eighty Years' War thread) and the other time it happened while I was listening to the Steeleye Span song "Lanercost". All of a sudden I heard the same kind of voice say "Deus adiuva me", which is Latin for "God help me". I looked up those words and found that they're from a psalm (Psalm 69, to be exact) and that they once were part of the old Catholic Latin liturgy. I have never heard a Mass read in Latin, since I was raised Lutheran and the Catholic Masses I attended were all held in German, so there was no possibility of me knowing those words, even though I had immediately known the Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary and Agnus Dei by heart when we learned them in our Latin class...

But I'm digressing, sorry! While discussing that second experience with a very dear friend with whom I've shared several lifetimes she reminded me of something that had happened in my Will Kempe life. Posting that here would mean going off-topic too much, so I'll post the story in that thread, if you're interested to hear it ;)

My memories are usually spontaneous as well; meditation doesn't work for me, I usually fall asleep...very annoying!
 
I also checked everything else besides hearing voices.

I mostly get information through dreams and then I use sometimes self-guided regressions to dig deeper with past lives I already know something about. So these two are my main sources.

I've been to a professional regressionist once, but I did get memories, so I included that, too. I have also had some spontaneous flashes, images while meditating and information I "just know" intuitively.

One should be very careful with this one, but it's also possible to hear about your past lives from someone else - a trustworthy medium or a friend that has shared past lives with you. But the best way is to experience by yourself, of course!

Reynardine explained it probably better than I can. I sometimes hear a voice, always the same voice, that isn't my inner voice. It's usually just a word or two, but a few times has been a phrase. I always write it down, and every time it has helped me to better understand a dream I've had, or helps me with a problem in my life now. Sorry I didn't include more choices, I included the ones I experience, as well as the ones I remember reading about here. Thanks for all the wonderful replies.

It's been a long time

It has been a long time since I said a word on here, but something set me on the trail gain last night. In the poll I answered all the above except professional regression. My first came to me in dreams when I was small, also daydreams, visions of which still many, many years later get the confermation of what, who, where and when.
One of the eras I look at is too the 20's to very, very early 30's. In my eternal serch I even went to new York a few years ago to some gain answers. Some came, but last night I have now narrowed it down to two area's Bronx or Staten Island. As years past I doubted it a little, because the information just did not fit the traditional picture, then wallop it gets narrowed down, close. When ever that happens it is so powerful, and well just can not describe the feeling.

Professional regression is the only way I've experienced pl memories, with two very brief exceptions. These two spontaneous recalls seem more real to me. The professional regression memories are hazy and I think I made them up. Very frustrating, but I'll keep trying; only been doing this for one year (one appt a month).
 
Again, thanks not only for voting, but also for all the great replies. I'm surprised that more people don't get memories from meditating, and was surprised now many get them through imprinting/instant knowing. It's also nice to know I'm not the only one who hears voices.

I've tried regression twice, one guided, once on my own. But the vast majority of my memories are spontaneous. They seem more trustworthy to me, since nothing external could have influenced them.
 
All of the above. Originally I had mostly sponteneous memories that came as recurring thoughts. I also hear voices in my head I take to be spirit guides. I later used self regression(and progression). Now I primarily receive new memories by professional regression with a therapist. I have past life dreams occasionally, as well as many dreams in the past that, in retrospect, I now realize for what they were. I don't meditate much but sometimes get flashes of insight when relaxed. I've also explored astrology and had readings and impressions done on me that have proved accurate and collaboratory with memories received by the above mentioned methods. It's not the most trustworthy method to start with, but if you have memories first it could be a good way of bolstering confidence in confirming your own memories.
 
Thanks for your reply zetascair20086, it should be encouraging to new memebers and anyone just starting to explore. This thread is showing that there are many ways to access PL memories, and most of us have received them in a variety of ways. It also helps to know its not that strange to hear voices.

It seems the majority of my information comes from PL dreams and meditation. I also have instances of instant recognition/knowing and have also had brief glimpses of people/places triggered by a smell, or sound, etc.
 
Mostly I get my PL memory by meditation, and sometimes i just see images, and get this feelings, can't describe, about places, people and i know that we met before, or already been there.

1) Memories - flashbacks. These come in three flavours:

a) Bidden - I want to remember a certain event, place, time. Not related to PL (I've not done any regression).
b) Triggered - something (typically smell, music, visual stimuli) triggers memory
c) Spontaneous - there's no immediate trigger - an unbidden memory arises in the consciousness for a fleeting second of perfect recognition.

2) Lucid dreams. These are historical and relate to a specific time and place. They are rare, but are intense and memorable. Unlike regular dreams, they are consistent in setting and action.

I will usually begin with an image which will pop up - like a single (usually but not always dramatic) scene.

Perhaps something reminds me like a present life event, or meeting a person I 'recognise', or a movie or something like that. Sometimes I will be doing a physical action and I will get all 'de ja vu' and remember doing this before - like the first time I rode a horse, threw a javelin and once when I was making the bed. Once or twice a piece of music has been a trigger.

I might turn it over in my mind during the day. I will 'think about it' and try to put it together with any other fragments I may already have. This works best when in a quiet and relaxed state. I usually do a little meditation before going to sleep to calm myself and relax and this is the most usual time when I might 'have a think' about something of this nature and more information will come floating up, just like trying to remember a 'real' thing in this life that I might have thought I had forgotten about. I think about it and gradually recall more and more.

Recently my mother has been cataloging old family photos and she will ask me, who is that person, what were you doing, etc. from some childhood photos. I might not remember at first, but before long I can get the name of the person, the name of their dog, their brothers and sisters and what that scene in the photo was all about. The process is pretty much identical.
 
For me its through dreams, and usually unwanted. What I consider my "past life" dreams differ from regular dreams in that they are much more vivid and detail oriented, I am in a different body that in "real life", and my emotions are very intense. My past life dreams include death experiences, including the very familiar sensation of leaving my body.

This is a very interesting thread! When I was young I used to have repetitive dreams, and in all of them I was a grown woman. I had a very definite sense of identity, and although I had a lot of respect for both my parents, I tended to see my mother as young. This sense of 'knowing' who I was, in addition to the dreams seemed to stop at around 12.

As I got older people, places and situations (i.e. squatting and writing on a small chalk board etc) would trigger a 'flash back'. These flash backs occurred between 16 and 18, but now they've stopped.

Now, I just get a sense of familiarity when I meet people and am in particular places, although I have absolutely no memories to go with this sense.

I've never been regressed, and I find it hard to meditate, I don't hear voices, but I do have a tendency to write 'fantasy', and soon after discover that there are and were places and people that I have 'made up'.

Past life dreams and spontanous experience for me. Sometimes through meditation, but then since it's a slight meditation I sometimes do the issue must have been ready to come out.
 
Mine have been through Dreams, Spontaneous Recollection, sometimes, a smell, a thought, an action, sometimes a kind of food or smell thereof will trigger a Memory.
Flash Backs, and sometimes spontaneously so, will occur.
Some days, I will wake up and just write all day, based upon what I am told about by the voice or memory that guide me.
I have also had Correlating Paranormal Experiences that will and often Do tie it all together.
I am awaiting a Move to Taos, NM where more of what I have known there will and have triggered far more memories.
 
I haven't been to a regressionist yet, but I do get the "hearing voices" experience every so often. I never paid much attention to it until recently, when what I heard made no sense to me.


What I heard wasn't nonsensical in any way, it just didn't make sense to me. It's like someone else had been speaking into my ear, and what was said had no connection to anything in my life. Yet, what was said was clear.


Of course, for the life of me I can't remember any of the phrases I "heard" but I'll be sure to write it down next time it happens. Maybe then I can explore it more.


Oh, and as a side note - if anyone knows of someone I can go to for my first regression here in Chicago, I'd appreciate the recommendation.

There are all sorts of other experiences that could also be behind such an experience. It may or may not be anything to do with recinarnation.


Some people are great believers in being in contact with what they describe as 'spirit guides' or their higher self and so forth, although I have not had such an experience myself, and receive promptings from them in the form of voices. It is a pity you can't remember what the voice said. I would be very interested.

It's definitely an inner voice. If it had been an outer voice, I'd have been a bit worried. Sometimes I hear phrases in my head, which seem to go as quickly as they come. It's not a common occurance, but it happens. It's almost like hearing a sing in your head.


Like I said, I'm very new to all of this. Spirituality and regression are subjects I've only begun to look into. These 'voices' aren't anything I've ever thought too deeply about, there are other things that I've experienced, mostly through dreams, that have me wondering where they come from.


I've had a few very vivid dreams that come from somewhere, but I don't know where. It could be that I have a very active subconscious imagination.


For example, on two separate occasions I've dreamt that I was watching Broadway musicals. From start to finish. These musicals do not exist in the real world, only in my dreams. Now, I'm a guy with no musical ability whatsoever - and I'm writing these things in my head? I really don't even like musicals! Have you heard of this before?


Other dreams I have are of movies or stories that don't exist anywhere outside of my head. They're nothing I've ever thought about in my waking life, but in my dreams they're there - as real as if I was in a theater.


These are the things that get me wondering what I have going on at a subconscious level.
 
Interesting BeachBoy. Glad you are not hearing 'those' kind of voices though. I have a friend who does and is on medication for it, but she is also very psychic and has all sorts of mystical visions at different times, including frequent visits from HH The Dalai Lama. Sometimes when I am talking to her I will make a hand gesture or something and she will literally see what I am trying to show with my gesture - a constellation of seven stars for instance in one case. I guess it is some kind of telepathy. She wrote a poem about it. She is a very hypersensitive individual in that way. Since talking with me about it all she has recently started having what I can only assume are past life memories as well. She did before, but just ignored them as some kind of static.


It sounds pretty cool whatever it is that's going on with you. Maybe other people have similar experiences and will care to share the details. Maybe you should get into writing musicals? Maybe next life. :laugh:


I wonder about these 'movies'. Are they mostly set in previous historical periods? Perhaps they are past life memories? Are you usually a protagonist, or do you feel like you are in the 'audience'? It would be interesting if you could relate an example.


What is 'subconscious imagination' I wonder? Personally I am working on a theory that the so-called subconscious is entirely made up of communications with the spirit in one way or another, whether past life memories or something else. It seems to me a simpler explanation (although to some people it would appear more way out I suppose).
