How does it work reincarnation. Can you choose on which continent you are born? which gender or skin color ethnic background. Or in a bygone age for example ancient China or the middle ages.

Nobody knows for sure, though you'll find lots of hypotheses. To answer the question of choice you will need to focus on the time between lives. Read all you can (you can find good sources in the forum), but never take anything as set on stone. Listen to people who remember past lives, remember your own lives if you can, and reach your own conclusions.

I'm with Eowyn, I don't think we can answer that with any certainty. Some say we follow the guidance of our spirit guides. I tend to believe our lives are arranged or happen as we need to learn. Locations, genders, scenarios are all apart of our advancement as spiritual beings, and thus these details are perhaps the props or utilities we need to grow and understand. ~Tman

Indeed. It is one of life's great mysteries. There are lots of theories. Some more plausible than others. Just as in this life, some people might be more likely to have a plan and stick to it, while others just 'make it up'. In my case several times I seem to have got 'what I wished for' in the next life, so that to me certainly suggests there is some kind of forethought going on.
