IMO, In our natural state as soul we have no gender. We are for a better term gender neutral. Because in the higher dimensions in between lifetimes we are a balance of both male and female polarities within consciousness itself.

We only experience gender when we incarnated into the physical plane where the state of duality is at it's strongest manifestation. Most of us usually incarnate as one gender or the other for several lifetimes. However over the course of time we become unbalanced in polarity in consciousness and need to incarnate as the opposite gender at some point in our soul journey on earth to balance out and receive different life lessons thru that gender.

During the first or perhaps second incarnation as the opposite gender there tends to be a bleed thru or overly lay of the astral body (which is the emotional/desire inner subtle body from the past life personality into the present one.) This creates a rather unique situation where the soul still has the sexual desires within the astral body of the last incarnation but is now expressing it thru the opposite physical gender now. From the physical point of view this seems odd and strange to many. Because in many ways this an astral state of consciousness rather than a physical one. Because in the astral world things are far more fluid and in a state of flux than the physical world where everything is dense and in a fix state of being in duality.

This gives soul a unique experience in that physical transitioning incarnation to learn life lessons or themes to overcome given blockages and limitations, to develop certain personal qualities at a soul level and to make a unique contribution to the universe. Soul choses these life-themes at a higher level of being and are fashioned perhaps to learn forgiveness, learn to speak ones inner truth, courage, leadership, wisdom, or faith. Maybe to consistently stand up for their principles, values and ideals that all human beings need to be treated with respect, dignity and love as we are all apart of god. And most of all to learn about unconditional love that all of us as soul are inner connected. We have all been the opposite gender at some point in our soul journey on this earth as I am sure we will be in future ones down the road at some point.

So being gay, straight, bi, transgender ect.. are just life lessons for the soul to learn and grow while we are here. As most of our spiritual growing and evolution is done on the physical plane.

In the end everyone plays their part in grand tapestry we call life.

Homosexuality has nothing to do with the previous incarnations in my opinion. It is exactly what it is with the animals: an error in the individual's genetic code, on a purely physical level, just like a bug in a computer program. A straight man gets horny when he sees a girl/woman he desires to have a relation with, in my opinion, it is not by memory of any previous remotely similar cases some five hundred years ago, but because his genetic program has analyzed the situation and has come to the conclusion that said individual should go ahead and fulfill the only reason his physical body has to exist on this planet - to procreate, because the chances of a fortunate outcome (healthy offsprings) in this very case are optimal. It's millions of years of evolution, not (in my opinion) because of some vague flashbacks or déjà-vu from God only knows what PLs that just shouldn't be there at all in the first place if the amnesia on all PL memories were more efficient.

There would be a very strong correlation between being gay and having very strong PL memories if previous incarnations had something to do with homosexuality, which (in my opinion) there is not. A lot of people, some gay, some not, have no PL memories at all.

Homosexuality exist in nature and is natural in most animals species. From a bigger perspective I see it as natures birth control and keeping a balance within a certain population. Otherwise that species runs the risk of extinction due to overpopulation. Also it has survival advantages in raising young there by ensuring that they reach adulthood should the parents die off during the process. As far as PL goes most human being don't remember their past life's due to the fact that the memories are storied within the soul/causal body. Our past life memories are stored in the permanent atom of the soul body or what some may term the causal body. The causal /Soul Body is named "Causal" because it is the originating source of each new personality that reincarnates in each lifetime. It is the source of your manifested present personality, causing it to be and exist.

When your present personality ends, the eternal essence of you is absorbed and goes inward into the next inner body which is the astral. Soul will spend time on various levels of this dimension of reality until the same process occurs once again and soul drops the astral body and goes further inward into the mental body. Then after some time has been spent on the mental dimension soul will drop the mental body and finally return to full consciousness within the Soul/Casual Body which is the eternal part of you. The Soul Body is immortal as it exists beyond time space and matter during your soul journey through the many incarnations or lifetimes within the lower worlds of the physical, astral and mental dimensions.

So each time we reincarnate we receive a new mental, astral and physical body which have no memory of these prior lifetimes. However the karmic actions from the past are carried over to later be expressed in the new lifetime. This is because the permanent memories and karmic actions of these other lifetimes are store within the soul body itself. But since the new incarnated ego has no memory of this it will in essences get a clean slate each time.

This is one of the reason why children have an easier time remembering their past lives is because their inner bodies are still developing along with their physical one. Having not yet lived in this world all that long allows them easier access to the connections within the soul body’s permanent atom and its memories of other lifetimes lived. As the child grows older this become less and less possible as the present personality is now taking hold and is more grounded into the physical world. In time these memories fade all together. In a way this is has it should.

As nature is kind by not allowing us to normally have memories of these other lifetimes so as to prevent any harm it may cause both mentality and emotionally to the present personality now being lived.

So being gay is not an error in the genetic code as you so put it. Rather nature creates diversity within the gene pool for the overall survival of that species. Therefore from a cosmic perspective everyone plays their part in life. All belong to the human race.

As far as I know, life lessons have karmic origins (thought-forms generated by an individual's present or past incarnations affect that individual's life). There is nobody "higher" that assigns life lessons to us, not even ourselves while in a higher "body".

In my opinion, sexual identity or preference can't be life lessons in themselves, as having blue eyes or black hair aren't either. They are characteristics of an individual. Even when such a characteristic is a factor in how one is treated by the environment, and an eventual life lesson results out of that, the characteristic in itself isn't a life lesson.

Also, I don't believe that the percentage of homosexual individuals in a population (human or animal) is dictated by nature's grand plan to control or keep balance. It is just part of the variability of that characteristic in that population.

Dr Ian Stevenson made some comments about homosexuality / cross gender incarnations and gender dysphoria. He did find some correlations but his work was not focused on this. In order to prove such a theory a lot more research in cross gender incarnations would have to be done.

Personally I think there is some influence. Some here being the key word. The rest is biological and environmental factors combined.

I don’t think we need to really understand why people are gay anymore than they are straight.

Just accept people how they are.

There are some very elaborate theories being talked about here but without any proof. How does anyone know all the answers to this? They can't. And really, I don't see that the cause matters at all, all that matters is that homosexuality exists and it's up to each of us to decide our take on it. I'd just hope that people are accepting of it as a fact of life, and treat others with as much kindness as they'd like to receive.

I have no problem with that as I did not know where on the forum this topic should be discussed being it's a sensitive one for many. And I will keep it in mind to put (in my opinion) for such topics in the future. In general you have a wonderful group of people here. Many of which are enlighten and mature enough to see and understand things from a different perspective. Which actually takes a certain amount of soul growth and awareness (in my opinion). Many call this heart wisdom. I tend to agree.
