Fall with my great-uncle and great-aunt...(fairly long)

Over fall break I stayed with my great-uncle and great-aunt in New York. Now, my great-aunt Sarah and great-uncle Max are older people and live on a rather large farm and needed a little extra help around the farm, so thats why I agreed to stay with them over fall break. They have children, but they are all grown up and none of them live nearby. Their grandchildren came to stay too. Drew's 14 and Megan's 16, I'm 17.

Everything was great at the farm. The farm is 5 miles from town and there isn't any neighbors. Aunt Sarah is an amazing cook and Uncle Max wasn't ever around much, him and Drew stayed outside in the barn or working the grounds for most of the day. The downfall was Aunt Sarah and Uncle Max didn't have internet and they had phones, but no long distance and my cell phone had no service; neither did Megan's. So we got pretty bored pretty quick.

It was three or four days into my stay when Megan and I decided to explore through the farm and see what we could find. Megan remembered seeing an old trunk in the back of the closet in her room. We had nothing better to do, so opened the trunk and began to rummage through it. The trunk was dusty and when you opened it there was a musty smell, as if the trunk haden't been opened in years. In the trunk there was a few gold picture frames (no pictures in them) that needed to be polished, a small book with fading handwritten recipes, a very old cornstalk doll and neatly folded in the bottom of the trunk was a dress. The dress was old and dated. It was a dark red wine color and longsleeved. It had a white apron tied around the waist and a white collar. The dress was long, floor length, and was made from a thick material. The dress was so beautiful, but it looked like it was in a very delicate condition. There were rips in the bottom of the dress, and rips and holes in other parts of the dress. Megan didn't think the dress was nearly as beautiful as I did. She said that it was just plain and out dated. That night after dinner when I was helping Aunt Sarah wash dishes I asked her about the trunk and the items in it. She said that trunk had been in the family for ages, just like the farm. She said that the trunk had been here when she moved in with Uncle Max and that she haden't really thought anything of it. Then Aunt Sarah surprised me a little, by taking off a necklace and putting it around my neck. As she was doing this she said "This was in the trunk too. All I know is that the stuff belonged to a grandmother of mine, obviously lots of greats in there. You seem to be more interested in the items than me, you have the necklace dear." I looked down at the necklace around my neck, lifting the charm in my fingers. It was a small letter; the letter was E. As I let the letter drop from my fingers I suddenly became hot and the room began to spin. I reached out for my aunt and closed my eyes. When I reopened my eyes, I wasn't in my aunt's kitchen anymore.

I was standing on the deck of a wooden ship. I was young, about 8 years old. The wind was strong and was blowing. I was wearing a long dress that was dark in color, maybe a black or brown? My hair was pulled back away from face and tied tightly, probably in braids. I had something tied under my chin and I could feel it hanging down my back, something like a bonnet or cap. I was crying and there was an older man kneeling in front of me. He was talking to me quietly and his voice was thickly accented, a British accent. However, I couldn't make out what he was saying. Then the man reached into a little pouch-like bag and pulled out a necklace. He clamped it around my neck and then it was over. When I woke up I was laying on my bed, Megan and Aunt Sarah on either side of me. I could see Uncle Max in the doorway. Aunt Sarah said I had passed out.

The night before I went back home I was dying to try on the dress in the trunk. After everyone had went to sleep I snuck into Megan's room and unpacked the dress. I went back to my room, and slipped into the dress. I moved over to the mirror and looked at myself. The dress fit almost perfectly expect it was a little long in the sleeves and in length. Then everything began to spin and I became really hot. I closed my eyes and when the room stopped spinning I reopened my eyes. I, once again, wasn't in my aunt's house. This time I was older, probably in my late teens. I was wearing the red dress, but it fit me better. Something was on my head and it was tied under my chin. My hair was hanging around my face in soft dark brown curls. I was sitting at a wooden desk, a candle sitting on the edge of the desk and throwing light over an open book in front of me. I was bent over the book, scribbling down what looked like recipes. Behind me I heard crying and I turned to see a small child, probably no older than 3 or 4. She was holding a cornstalk doll in one hand. She was wearing a plain white gown that dropped to her knees and she had dark blonde, curly hair. I stood up, crossing the room to her. I picked her up and carried her back to a room in the back of the house. I laid her down and then I whispered "Goodnight, Katherine" in her ear. Then I'm standing outside, in a field. Cotton is around me. I drop to my knees and begin to pick it, putting it in a hand-wooven basket next to me. There is a dirt road behind me and I hear someone calling to me. They call me Elizabeth. I turn to look at them. Its two girls around my age. They both have on dresses like mine, but one is black and the other is dark blue. They ask me if I am coming to the corn husking that night. I tell them I cannot, I must stay home with Katherine for John has not returned from England yet. Then I woke up. I was leaning agaisnt the mirror in my bedroom.

I believe that I was a pilgrim, or at least lived in the early Purtain years. Would everything that I saw/recalled add up with this time frame? And what do you make of me being on the ship?

THat must have been exciting . The dark dresses sound like that era , and coming over from England would fit in .. Have you done regression work before or was the idea coming from out of the blue.? Maybe that necklace brought forth a flashback to a time when the necklace remained a trigger about things that you longed for in that life.

If I were you I would probe further as your reaction was so strong , to have fainted. You could ask and find out if you have feelings you need to explore about Katherine. When we have unresolved feelings things like your necklace can be just the thing to trigger us .. ie something personal we have owned. THrough reliving the time you can become more comfortable with yourself.

I am wondering also if you usually would spell Katherine like that as most of the time in the generation past the 70s I think of it being spelled Catherine.

Soulfriendly,

First of all, the spelling of Katherine. Thats just how I myself spell Katherine. I'm not sure if the little girl n my flashback spelled her name Catherine or Katherine.

As for regression, no I haven't ever done it. I've had "flashbacks" and dreams before however. None of them were of this time period though. This was the first time that I had "flashbacked" to this time period.

Welcome to the forum! I enjoyed reading your memories. Those must have been overwhelming to have caused fainting. Do you feel like you were the person who used to own those items? Or was it just a trigger? I'm sure more memories will come easily to you if you meditate. Is this life something you would like to know more about?

I also feel an attachment to those simple times, although I have no memories of it.

What were your other flashbacks and dreams of? I look forward to hearing more of your memories.

HI Stephie,

I am intrigued with your memories.

I reached out for my aunt and closed my eyes. When I reopened my eyes, I wasn't in my aunt's kitchen anymore.
Do you feel your consciousness shifted to another time and space - or do you feel you "fainted?" I do believe there is a difference. Consciousness studies are fascinating and if you are interested I can point you in the direction of some very interesting books about it.

I am curious also about your memories and the connections between them. You remember being on a ship - you remember England. You remember cotton. Why do you think you were a Puritan? DO you recall any religious ceremonies, rituals, or beliefs? Bonnets were common in England so I am wondering about the Puritan comment. :D

This was the first time that I had "flashbacked" to this time period.
What time period do you think you lived in? Do you have any connections to England in this life?

Thank you for sharing

Welcome to the forum! That sounds like a very deep and intense memory.

Do you think it is possible you were your great-aunt's grandmother to whom the locket and the trunk belonged to? You seem to have an affinity for the items in the trunk and gravitated towards it. This sounds very interesting. Please keep us posted.

Deborah,

I don't feel that I fainted. Thats why I asked my Aunt Sarah what had happened. She claims that I fainted, but I have no memory of it. I felt like myself and consciousness moved to another time period.

The memory of the ship was of a young girl; about 8 years old. I definatly feel that she was the same person as in my second memory. Although she was grown up in the second memory.

As for a Purtain. I don't really know why I said a Purtain. The word just popped into my head. It was something that I just felt when I was at my aunts and uncles over fall break. I don't know if that means something or not? I just re-read my post and its common sense to think a Pilgrim before a Purtain, but Purtain was just something that seemed to stick in my head.

Also Deborah,

You asked if I have any connections with England in this life.

Well, on my father's side I am English and German.

On my mother's side I am English and Hebrew.

Other than that, I don't have any connections at all.
