Does anyone know this religion?

I dreamed a few days ago about there being a temple amongst reddish rock. There was an almost hidden entrance. Behind the entrance was a vast networks of rooms and chambers which were stunning. Light shown through natural holes in the walls and ceilings in some of these rooms and chambers. Before finding this entrance there is a body of water almost like an oasis. The water is very clear and clean and this feels like a temple dedicated to a deity (whose name I don't remember now). This water flowed to some of the rooms in the cave.

I feel this may have been a past life related dream because not only did this dream feel extremely realistic it also seemed familiar.

Does anyone know what this may have been or where?

It does sound like a PL memory, but I have no idea as to the location. Did it seem like a desert area? Egypt? Maybe Native American? Could be Arizona or New Mexico? Maybe South America. Was the air humid or dry?

Petra or something from that region was the first thing I thought of as well..

The things that really brings Petra to mind are the color of the cliffs, and the masterful use of water that the designers evinced. Of course, it was your dream, Rustic Lad! You saw the temple, and we didn't. :) It would be really cool if we could project our dreams so other members could see! Somehow, I wonder if everyone who "saw" Petra was there!

I never actually thought of Petra or that it could be Petra! Petra does look really close to it! I couldn't find if there was a hidden oasis or not but it may or may not be there an longer...

Thanks everyone!

I found one site that said that the temple had a system of cavern rooms where light came in from natural openings, which sounds like your dream, Rustic Kid. Past life there or not, what an incredible place! :)

Thank you BriarRose! Sounds exactly like where I had dreamed! I am wondering though, if who I suspect I may have been, was there? I don't know if I had been there in ancient times or not, but I do wonder if I may have been there during this one lifetime? I guess for simplicities sake I should start calling him RH. I know RH had done extensive traveling in Damascus, Egypt, Palestine, Athens, Beirut, and Cettinje...so I wonder if they maybe stopped there to tour it?

Sometimes memories get confusing in that way. Ancient sites could just as easily have been visited in more modern times by scholars, archeologists, tourists, visiting dignitaries, etc. The builders of Petra were masterful at conserving and directing water, and even sold it to others. However, if RH visited in the last century or two, I'm not sure the water in your dream would have still been in existence. A guide might have described the site in earlier times, and RH's imagination put it there. Was the visit you spoke of in the 19th or 20th century?

I hadn't considered that the water may not have been there at that time and that it could be my imagination at the time. Which is an interesting point I was actually going to ask a question about later...I was going to ask if sometimes memories can come through as really strange or be confusing as in confusing yourself for someone else or having strange recollections could be attributed to actually remembering thoughts or dreams from a past life? Its an interesting thought.

RH's visit would have been during the 19th century around the 1880's or so.

I think it's less likely that you would remember past life dreams. But let's just imagine for a minute that RH visited Petra, heard the guide's description, and was really impressed with the beauty and holy feeling of the temple. I saw a picture where the area in the front of the temple was filled with a sea of candles. It was easy for me to imagine reflections from water. When you "dreamed" RH's memory, the water was there for you, like it was for him. It's just a thought. I think the Bedouins avoided entering Petra, and considered it haunted. RH probably had a Bedouin guide. I'm sure money would have convinced the less superstitious! There's a documentary about Petra on Netflix, if you subscribe to that. When I watched it months ago, it was the first time that I felt a "time shift", where I remembered walking down the street of an ancient city.
