When you reincarnate from life to life, you lose your memory and switch to a new body. But, your habits, reflexes, knee-jerk reactions, etc. stay the same from body to body ... and, collectively, they comprise of your "personality". So, for example, if you cause an accident and have a habit of running away, then that habit will transfer from life to life. And, across lives, you might learn goodness so that you would learn to stick around after causing an accident and do what you can to fix the problem in redemption. And, the overall goal and the design of reincarnation is so your soul would learn to be good.
Ultimately, when your soul is good enough to get along with others and be logically good enough, then you are invited to become an immortal angel to therefore escape reincarnation by not dying anymore. And, waiting until you are ready is for your own sake so your immortal life as an angel will be heavenly instead of hellish or else your flaws will drag out forever and ever because of immortality; so, therefore, you would reincarnate to figure out logical goodness in order to increase the likelihood that you will have a heavenly immortality. And, as an example, because of eternal time, it seems as a matter of probability before you cause an accident; therefore, your ability to be able to redeem yourself among angels after causing an accident would be important to ensure eternal peace and happiness among angels. As such, these are vital lessons and skills to learn through reincarnating from life to life before you are ready to become an angel in order to ensure your immortality will be happy and heavenly as result. And, souls will keep reincarnating until they are finally ready to escape reincarnation by living forever as angels.
