With huge gratitude, and a little sadness, I'm announcing that Debbie is retiring from her role as Executive Director, Grand Leader, and Head Goddess of the Reincarnation Forum. She's been the driving force and inspired leadership of the Forum ever since she going in April, 1997. The Forum probably wouldn't still exist if it weren't for her tireless effort. But, as with so many things, the end has to come, she can't go on forever, and the time has come for her to do other things with her life. Besides the work she's done, she's been a joyful spirit and friend to all who knew her and worked with her. Her personality and ideas imbued the Forum with the unique character that has made it so vital for so long. No words can thank her enough for what she's contributed to all of our lives, and to the study of reincarnation.
Debbie won't be vanishing, however. Her new title is Forum Goddess Emeritus, and she'll still be hanging around here from time to time. But without the burden of all the Executive Director responsibilities.
Tinkerman is our new Executive Director. He'll be taking over Deb's duties, effective immediately. Tinkerman has been a moderator and admin here for 18 years, and has worked closely with Debbie all along. So the transition will be seamless. I can't think of anybody more qualified to build on all that Debbie has done, make the Forum even better, and give it new zip.
We're taking this change of leadership as an opportunity to make other changes too. Steve and I will be working closely with Tinkerman over the next few months to modernize the functionality and features of the Forum, to beef up moderation, to give the discussions more focus, and to find ways to raise our profile in the online world and social media. Our near-term goal is to increase membership, including among the younger people. Our long-term goal is to build the Forum into a sustainable, perpetual institution that will outlive us all.
