After-death Communique

The first time this happened to me - I was 8 years old. My Great-grandfather passed away and I was shielded from the news. So, when his 'spirit' showed up and I started talking about the 'sight' of him - it freaked my family out. After one of my NDE's - I came back talking about meeting my 'Great-great Grandfather' and details of our conversation was confirmed in the family circle. He had died before I was born and it amazed various members of my family who had 'private' details that I would suddenly be aware of.

When I was 13, my best friends Grandfather had passed away and I passed on messages to him. I didn't think anything of it. When I was 14, another friends Mom had died and I passed on a message to him. There was a great deal of superstition about this and I really didn't understand the 'fear' it provoked in others.

When I was 18, a teenager passed away in the new neighborhood where I had moved to. His spirit came to me and tried to coax me into passing on a message to his Mom. By that time, my family had convinced me this sort of thing was against some sort of 'unwritten law' and I was in danger of being 'arrested' or 'tar and feathered' and ran out of town for it. I wouldn't do it unless I was totally convinced it was at 'God's request.' That opened up a flood gate and I spent the next five years passing on messages to individuals of all walks of life. Only, if I was totally convinced this 'spirit' came to me with 'God's approval' and carried with them the 'unpronounceable' name of the divine. Therefore - it wasn't my business anymore. It was 'God's business' and I couldn't be judged one way or another on the other side for it.

Just as many as I granted the request (over 500 times during that five year range) - I turned down twice as many. My house was like 'grand central station' in the spirit world and I had to impose rules. No "spirit" could approach me in my house. They had to do it while I was outside of my house. I wanted my privacy. If it was an 'emergency' only - and it had 'God's signature' then they could burst into my private quarters with a request.

I shared this aspect of my doings once and was criticized for it. Someone felt I should have honored every single request from a spirit to contact a loved one on their behalf. I had 'spirit guides' during this time and was following their instructions and advise. I was told of - and was introduced to the 'pranksters.' They would have 'foul' intentions on their agenda and if I gave in to their requests - then - I would have a 'penalty' to pay for when I got to the other side. If the 'request' resulted in any type of 'hurt, harm or pain' to a living individual - then - I would have a hand in it and have to bear responsibility for allowing that pain, hurt or harm.

An example I gave my friends was, say that a nephew and uncle had a feud going on while they were both alive in this world. Then the 'uncle' passes away and instead of passing on a 'good message' of love, hope, peace and harmony - his spirits intention was still wrapped up in the worldly mind and wanted to 'get back' at his nephew for the last jab at their feud and the message contained some sort of hidden jab that I was unaware of that led his nephew to hurt himself or others due to that message. I would have to bear responsibility for that evil even though I had no idea it took place.

One example was a day I left for work early to drive around for the sole purpose to give 'spirits' an opportunity to make a request. A spirit showed up and was sitting (invisible) in the passenger seat. The spirit came bearing the 'spiritual tone' of the divine. It was a husband who had passed away and it was the day of his bodies funeral. He had left behind a widow and the message was for her. I was given directions by this spirit to get to the cemetery where the funeral was being held and showed up and stood by the car this spirit told me to stand by waiting for this woman to show up. I excused myself and approached the woman and expressed my sympathy and then told her I was like a 'western union' delivery guy who had a message I was supposed to deliver to her for the sake of the one she had just lost sight of. When I said what this spirit told me to say - this woman's eyes lit up and she was glowing. She told me, "The only person in the world who would know to say that to me is my husband. Who told you to tell me that?"

That would be the trick. Trying to express that the spirit the dead man everyone had just buried was standing (invisible) right there in the middle of the crowd and whispering secrets into my ear. My reply was a question.

"Do you believe in some sort of God? If so, then your husband is dead to the world - but is NOT dead to God. I have found the best thing to say in this matter is to say - God gave me a secret to pass on to you so you know that your husband is still alive with God. I think that is all that counts in this moment. Give gratitude where gratitude is due. Thank God for the message and were even."

I always said that because people would try and pay me for it, or offer me some sort of gift of gratitude. If anyone asked me how I was doing it - I had no idea how to explain it. It just happened. I never felt in charge of it - or had control of the direction it was going to lead me. I always felt there was a 'formal introduction' to this spirit from the 'divine' and I just acted like an 'interpreter.' How can an 'interpreter' take credit for a 'message' that is coming from the heart of someone else?

I was told by the 'spirit guides' involved that it was a 'collision of two prayers.' The person who received the message had given a 'prayer' to God about something and I had been saying a prayer for years. If God needed my mind, body or life for anything in this world - I was willing to take a back seat and allow God's hand to work it's wonder and joy in the world of man. I had no specific design (in my mind) about being called upon to speak on behalf of the deceased. I felt it was like a 'volunteer' army. You did your service for a five year period and then went into civilian life. It slowed down to a trickle in 1983 and it was a very rare occurrence in my life afterwards.

During that five year period - there was a protocol of procedures with rules and regulations that had to be followed. To me, the worst thing in the world - was to ask for this sort of thing 'directly.' As an example, I met a young friend in 1980 and his mother had just passed away. I told him that if he asked for it directly - or - if I asked for it directly - then it wouldn't be a gift when it came. I told him,

"The best thing to do in this situation (from my understanding) is to put the request to God that you would like to know that she is okay. Let God decide what you need to happen to fulfill that request. Don't design it so - that it has to be one way or another. Just ask that you know that it came from God and from that, your prayer was answered. Let it be something personal between you and God and designed to bring you closer to God - rather than trying to bring back a closeness from your dearly departed Mom. Just ask for closure to allow you mind to be free from worry about her well being in the afterlife."

A week later, I was called upon (in spirit) to pass on a message to him and when I did - his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "How did you know to say that to me? My Mom is the only one who ever said that to me. How did you know that?"

My reply was, "I didn't know it until God told me that secret. Your Mom is alive and well in God's eyes and looking forward to the day you two will be reunited in God's arms as well as hers. God is looking forward to that as well. Until then, don't lose faith."

Sincerely,
DKing

I just recalled one of the conversations I shared with this particlar friend afterwards. I spoke about 'reincarnation' more than I spoke about the 'communiques' with departed spirits - so my friend was confused about the 'reunion' process in the afterlife. I have heard the question come up on message boards from time to time.

"If reincarnation is a fact - and I live for another 60 years or so, how are we going to be reunited on the other side if my Mom's spirit is reincarnated?"

The way I addressed this with him (in 1980) was a little different than just putting it into words. Most people feel that as 'human beings' we are our spirits 'incarnated.' The fact is, the spirit of us - and the human of us - is two different entities. The spirit of us - can and does - roam the spirit realm without letting us in on that secret - day to day. I told my friend I would prove a point to him by coming to him in his sleep at night in spiritual form rather than in human form.

"My physical body is going to be sleeping in my bed and your human body is going to be sleep in your bed. I am getting you to consent to allowing your spirit to open the door to your head and us to exchange some sort of coded message to know that our spirits visited each other without either of us having to die to do so."

I told him to think up a question that his human mind wanted to ask me but hadn't got around to it as of yet. It had to be something that physically and mentally important to him to build a bridge to spirit. It couldn't be a simple arithmetic question because he wouldn't have that motivation of desire to build the bridge. I told him his spirit would ask my spirit in what would seem like a 'dream' - only the dream would be him crawling out of his body during sleep and having us sit on the side of his bed at night so - he could ask me the question. When he woke up - it would seem (to his mind) that it had been only a dream but - he would have an answer to the question. I would confirm the meeting had taken place (in spirit) by telling him the question the next day - as well as the answer I had given him in what would seem like a 'dream' to his mind.

Of course - the day came when I told him the question and the answer my spirit had given his spirit during what seemed like a dream. He was totally shocked because it had all seemed like a 'dream' to his mind the next day - but there was no way anyone in the world would have known the personal question he had on his mind.

The mind is divided into two parts. The conscious and the unconscious. What goes on in 'spirit' is always hidden away in the unconscious mind - so - it is very possible for him to pass away 60 years after his Mother passed away - and still have a reunion with her spirit - regardless of her spirits attachment to another body through reincarnation. Whether we have a conscious memory of 'our trips' to heaven at night - or night - doesn't prevent this sort of 'trip' from happening while we are sleeping - or - even walking around in the middle of the day. (I proved this to another friend once by sending my spirit to him in the middle of the day to answer an important question.)

The only difference to me from 'departed spirits' and living human beings was - one was attached to a limited human mind and the other one wasn't. I had many 'spiritual encounters' with the 'spirits' of living human beings as well. What goes on in the 'conscious mind' is a very, very, very limited fraction of the whole.

This is what boggled my mind during the early 80's. I was being 'asked' to pass on message to 'human minds' when the whole time - a person walks in the dark and is blind and deaf to their own inner spirit. I recall asking one 'spirit guide',

"Why don't they get their own spirit to just poke it's head out of it's shell and get this message for themselves. Why get me mixed up in their personal business? Seems like a lot of wasted time if you ask me. My time. If they don't know enough to trust their own spirit - who can they trust?"

I was told time and time again, the problem was human minds being lost from the sight and sound of their own inner and hidden spirits.

So, I told my friend that when the time comes in 60 years time and he passes away - and his Mom's spirit is busy in the world attached to another 'blind, deaf and dumb' human mind - her spirit wasn't going to have to get the permission of the 'deaf, dumb and blind' human side of the next incarnation to have that reunion in spirit with his spirit to keep that promise to him. I told him the 'spirit' wasn't bound to time and gravity like the 'conscious mind' was - and - if need be - they could spend what would seem like a 1000 years together in that spiritual reunion when the time came - while the new 'incarnation' would sleep right through it without a care or thought in the world about it.

DKing

I enjoyed your post DKing and I can relate to what you are saying because of a pact I made with my father before he died and what happened after he died.

He was diagnosed with sarcoma in December 2003 and lived until November 14 2004. The last three months of his life I spent with him day and night. We spent a lot of time talking about what would happen when he passed on. I told him of interest in NDEs and of meeting Dannion Brinkley and what the research had shown. We made a deal that if the time came for him to go and I wasn't there with him, he had to let me know. We also agreed that when he got to the other side that he would connect with me in any way possible. Finally, we agreed that when it was my time to go, he would be the one to come back for me.

Those last three months with him were filled with metaphysical experiences, such as his conversations with my grandmother and two aunts (all of which I was a witness to, at least him carrying on the conversation with them - and he couldn't understand why I couldn't see them), a visit from Jesus (Daddy stood up and looked in awe into a blank space in the kitchen holding his arms out and then said to me "do you see him?" and when I said no, I don't, but I am not supposed to right now - he turned his hands over and said his hands and feet are covered in blood and went about describing what he was seeing), him describing to me his out of body "flights" as he called them, and much more that I keep close to my heart that I've not told anyone.

He has kept two of his promises thus far in that the night he passed away he was sitting in his wheel chair in the den beside me and I was on the love seat holding his hand. I fell into a deep sleep and in my sleep, I saw him walk out the back door and step into heaven. When my brother woke me up, I told him, "Daddy is gone". Interestingly enough my brother had gone to lie down in Daddy's bed and he was awakened by the sound of my Daddy giving a hoot (like he did when we were kids and he was calling us in) and someone standing at the foot of the bed. When he got up to check, that is when he found that Daddy was gone.

Of importance to this next part is that during his illness 2 a.m. was "our time". For whatever reason he always would awaken at 2 a.m. and we would talk, I'd fix him breakfast, or whatever, we always called it our 2 a.m. party. After he died, every night at around 2:10 or 2:12, I'd awaken from the same repetitive dream. In my dream, I was lying in the bed (which I physically was) and I would hear a knock at the door. In my heart I knew it was my Daddy. I would "float" down the hallway and sit at the bar with him. We would talk, but I could never remember what we talked about. That happened every night for about two weeks. The day after I had the last dream, I was telling my husband about the dream and about his promise to me. My husband said out of the blue, "(his name), if you are here give us a sign, when suddenly an antique clock sitting right above us started gonging. Mind you there is no way this clock should have gonged in that the pendulum wasn't on the clock, nor had it been wound. We knew it was him and it was his sign he was okay. I would delighted but after a few weeks and no more dreams and no further contact from him, I was seeping into depression and worried that maybe I had imagined it all when one night I had a dream that God took me to a huge door and allowed me to peek inside the keyhole where I saw my Daddy and he looked perfectly happy and content. A younger version of himself and not sickly. I don't feel him around me now, which is kind of sad, although in March three years ago my oldest son suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and was in a coma. When he came out of the coma he told of being in a boat fishing with both of his grandfathers. He said that there was no talking, that they talked with their minds. My son said he was happy and content there when he could hear my husband caling to him and my Daddy told him via telepathy that he had to go back. The next thing my son remembers was being back in his body and thinking to himself as they were taking the intubation tube out that he had to breathe or die. I'm glad that Daddy was there for him.

I know this is long and drawn out, but I felt compelled to share it, although I don't share this story often.

I have a clock story, also. My father passed away 4 years ago. Several months later I attended an event with the psychic medium Chip Coffey. The day after I got home I started hearing a bell "ding" one time and then stop. This happened once or twice a day for about three days. When I heard it I would go through the house looking for the source. On the third day I was sitting at the dining room table eating when it happened again. It sounded like it came from the living room. I went in the living room and there was a battery powered alarm clock on the mantel. The clock works but the alarm hasn't been set for many years. This was the clock my father had used to wake himself up from naps. I took the clock down and looked at the back. The alarm switch was half way between on and off. I tested the alarm thinking the battery might be weak. The alarm worked fine. But I could not make it ding just once and stop. Since then there have been other strange things from time to time.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience with us. I really enjoyed reading it. One thing that jumped out at me - and triggered recall - is how many times I would spend the night in a dream 'talking for hours' with the spirit of a 'departed' friend and when I woke - I couldn't remember a 'thing' we said. I could recall them telling me 'we were sharing secrets.' There was a time when I was pondering the suggestion some made to me - that it may just be a 'psychological' response to the grief. In my heart, I knew differently - but it was hard to grasp the reality of it mentally.

As one example - one friend who passed away told me about his future 'incarnation' - and described in detail, when, where and how we would cross paths again. Of course - in 1981, I woke up with no memories of these details. The memory returned to me in 2006 when I stood looking into the eyes of a young man - and all these memories of those 'secret conversations' came flooding back into my mind. I was totally stunned (of course.)

This sort of thing hasn't happened to me in years, but this month - it happened again and I was stunned by it again.

I was in the middle of a dream with someone talking to me - for hours. I recall them telling me that I wouldn't be able to recall what had been said - and something like "You know the routine by now." They told me they would wake me up before they left. I was awakened by someone patting me on the knee. I woke up from a deep sleep looking around like I was expecting to find someone waking me up for an appointment but the room - and the house was empty. The only thing that bothered me was - I have no idea who it was. I just know someone I had a bond with in the past has passed away. (At my age - it could be someone from my grade school years as far as I know.)

So reading your experience reminded me of the many times - I couldn't remember the details of the talk - but could recall the feeling of being with someone I had a close bond with during the night.

Once again, thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Sincerely,

DKing

One story from me: I was a month short of my 5th birthday when my Grandpa (Dad's Dad) died from cancer. They held his funneral, which my parents took me too and I saw grandpa in the casket. I remember not quite understanding what was going on, Grandpa died and went to heaven, I was told. I also remember my Dad taking me out of the service which was strange because usually it was my Mom who would take me out, when I got too restless. So we got back to Grandma's house and they put me to sleep in a back bedroom. Sometime during the night, I wake up, and there standing at the foot of my bed, was Grandpa. Looking a bit younger and much better, he was solid right to his waist, before kinda fading. He told me to tell everyone that He was ok, and not to worry and that he loves everyone. He just faded out as I watched.

I remember being confused. Everyone's telling me that he's dead, so what's he doing standing at the foot of my bed? My Mom and Grandma came in to check on my and found me wide awake and still staring at the foot of the bed. I told them what Grandpa said and my Mom kept saying that I had a dream. Well, I knew better as you don't dream when your wide awake. I went back to sleep, mad. LOL

I think this sort of thing happens to children with a greater frequency than adults. I grew up with a greater frequency of it than most other children - so - I stood out.

One of the definitions of 'dream' is: 4-an involuntary vision occurring to a person when awake. One of the definitions of 'vision' is: 3- an experience in which a personage, thing, or event appears vividly or credibly to the mind, although not actually present, often under the influence of a divine or other agency.

I had to learn there were two types of 'dreams' while I was growing up. I think the better word was 'vision' and my family came to call me a 'child of vision' in reference to the 'supernatural' images I was constantly trying to talk about.

So, by definition, a 'dream' can come to you in a vision while your wide awake.

Sincerely,

DKing

To my almost 5 year old self, dreaming was something you did while asleep, not awake. I had no idea what to call it.

I think my late grandpa visited me because I was his youngest grandchild. At that age, the filters are not up, so it was probably easier to get thru to me, than anyone else.

Young children haven't been taught that you're not supposed to be seeing thing, so they are open.

During the early 80's - I was visited by many recently departed spirits and asked to pass on messages to their loved ones. I was very naive about the whole thing and very reluctant to get involved in the business of strangers. I would often ask the spirits, "Why don't you just go to them yourself and leave me out of this affair?" They would give me the same reply each time. "I have been trying to reach them - but they are not open to this like you are."

I've got hundreds of memories and stories of the times I delivered a message on behalf of a departed loved one. I couldn't understand why I was open to this - and it made me feel strange, weird and 'not normal.' It was very hard to talk about back then. I tried to talk to my friends about it - and they couldn't understand it - because they were not 'open' to it either.

But from my experience, I think many people would be pleasantly surprised to find out just how long and how much the spirits of our departed loved ones stay with us after they pass on. Just because some don't see or hear them - don't mean they are not there trying to break through to let loved ones know they are okay and moving on to 'greener pastures.'

Sincerely,

DKing

As I say, I was very reluctant to get involved with this sort of thing and I can recall some of the conversations (now) with some of the spirits about it. I can recall being told many times, "they have a superstitious mind about such matters." I looked up the dictionary and found: irrational fear of what is unknown or mysterious, especially in connection with religion.

I noticed how true that was - if - I tried to speak to the wrong minds about such occurrences in my young adult life. I always felt like I was walking through a 'mine field' when trying to talk about it with other humans.

For me - it was like my own personal and private Christmas. When I delivered a message to a person - their eyes would light up like Christmas trees and their joy and happiness would be contagious and hit me like a tidal wave. I wouldn't get involved until I was a assured "God's" hand was in on it (for my own personal self) and the way I looked at it was - being able to witness firsthand - God's hand at work in the world of man.

I was often 'accused' of doing the 'devil's work.' I would just laugh and tell them,

"If that is the way the devil works here in the world of man - he's doing a better job of it than God. I don't know that the devils job is to spread joy and happiness. If I am seeing the devil's hand at work - it is through the fear I see you barking at me about God putting some love into the world that is much needed. If anyone is trying to do the devils work - it is you. Barking your fear at me trying to tell me NOT to help God put some love and joy into the world."

I would have people scratching their head and looking at me sideways when I said that. Now that I look back on it - I realize just how true it was.

Sincerely,

DKing

Now that I look back on that period in my young adult life, I am amazed at how 'fast and furious' this type of thing was for me. There was a four year period (18-22) and my mind was on a whole different game - and 'trying to score' - if you know what I mean. There was the physical side and the spiritual side - and I was tying to keep the two separate and apart.

Things like you describe were happening all the time - and I called them 'poetic messages' because it wasn't really direct and was sort of abstract. When symbolic things happened around me - I looked at it like a 'telephone ring.' I had to 'tune into' the vibe of the source of that poetic message to get a 'direct line of communication' going to see what this spirit was trying to tell me. I wrote poetry back then and one of the lines was,

"The telephone rings in my head, and keeps me up at night on the side of my bed - going out of my head."

There was a documentary mentioned here on the board that does an excellent job of documenting what I used to call 'poetic messages' from the beyond. (The Life After Death Project.)

For me - these poetic messages would led me to a state where I would be able to lay down on my bed - and slip out of my body and sit on the edge of my bed with another spirit sitting next to for the sake of a 'down to earth' conversation. If I looked over my shoulder - I would see my human body laying in the bed asleep - but I would be totally aware and conscious of a different reality going on while my body slept while I was out of my own 'head.'

Sincerely,

DKing

That's a good question and one that I can't answer. I don't know as this sort of thing has not come in in conversations with family. The only thing close is my adult niece (husband's side of family) who had a stroke after having her second child. While she was in the hospital, fighting, she was visited by her late grandmother (her mom's mom) who stayed with her, probably to help. We the living, were there, as well. Never saw or felt the grandma, but then I wasn't in an "open" state either. Far too emotional for obvious reasons.

Thanks for this discussion dking! Always enjoy reading your comments.

You said that at age 18-22 your were tying to keep the physical and spiritual apart? Do you remember why?

Believe it or not - it is tied into a 'reincarnation' theme. I never knew how to explain it to people back then. I have written and spoken about my 'medical condition' many times. There were many physical - as well as spiritual side effects. One of the side effects was - I didn't age after 15. When I was 18 (and woke up with amnesia) - I was a legal adult - and no one believed my ID. The Doctors gave me all sorts of tests and they said that it was like I had a 'college degree' with 'book smarts' - but - I hadn't developed socially on a mental level. For all intents and purposes - I was a 15 year old walking around in an adult body. When I was 20 years old, I became an oddity when I moved to a new city and started a job. My employers checked my story out and called my doctors to confirm I had a medical condition that made me look like I was only 15. When I went to work - it was at a neighborhood store and every single customer would stop in their tracks and ask me if I was old enough to be working behind the counter. By that age - I knew what I knew about it and the foundation of it was spiritual.

This is the story. When I was 14 - I ran into three 'soul mate' type friends. We ALL remembered our past lives together and spoke about. They were all three years younger than me. We were all in puberty together and when I went through the change and graduated to the 'adolescence stage' of human development - I wanted to part company with my three friends and hang out with guys my age. They all pointed me to a promise that had been made (in spirit) prior to our births - that I would find a way to wait for them to go through the changes so we could all grow up together on the same level.

I was seeing Doctors at the time at the local University and we were using 'hypnosis' - so - I developed my on program of 'self-hypnosis' to keep my promise and put myself in hibernation for three years. When I woke up with 'amnesia' - it was just me coming out of hibernation so that my friends and I would be at the same level - mentally and we could grow up together just as promised.

What I was trying to prepare them for (which we all knew was coming) was the 'forgetfulness' of losing sight of our past life memories together. So when people stopped dead in their tracks and asked me my age - I wouldn't know how to explain it to their rational "down to earth" mortal minds. That was the thing for me when I was a teenager during this stage. I wasn't mortal. I was 'immortal' and I didn't know how to think in 'mortal terms.' If you would have found yourself standing next to me when I was that age - you would have probably have heard me refer to you as a 'mortal.' To me, mortal's thought, acted and talked differently from the 'immortals.' My friends asked me how the 'spirits' that came to me - refereed to me. I said, "They call me a master in disguise."

There was a time when a customer came into my store when I was 20 and wouldn't let up on the subject. They wanted to know 'my secret' of keeping and retaining a youthful appearance. I started looking into their eyes and they asked what I was looking at. I told them, "I can't put into words but I can give you a spark that will explain everything in a blink of an eye. I am trying to see if that spark will blow a fuse in you - or - if you capable of handle that much information in the blink of an eye." They stood there with their mouth open for a while and then said, "My gawd, that explained everything, but I don't really know how to make sense of it." My reply, "That is how it is in the mortal world in which we find ourselves living."

So - to sum it - I came to realize that 'truth of spirit' is very irrational to the human mortal mind. I was trying to develop my own mortal mind for my own stay in the world - and I knew that it was too hard to make sense of spirit on a day to day basis. I came to the conclusion (as far as my own mortal mind was concerned) that my spirit planned out every single moment of my life - long before my mortal mind jumped into the world. I felt the best thing to do was to enjoy the ride and not worry about (about the spiritual side of it) that much.

My young friends were growing up in a world of darkness and saw the darkness coming upon them and got scared. They wanted me to assure them that what we knew as children together was true. We had lived before as friends, we were living this life as friends and we would live lives in the future again as friends. We had eternal promises between us and they wanted to know those future promises were going to come true. I felt a part of the reasons our spirits come here - is to have a 'separate' physical experience where the focus is primarily on the worldly - rather than the 'other-worldly.' I didn't want to ruin the surprises my own spirit had in store for me by having my 'spiritual eyes' open to much in the future. That was my attitude about - anyway. Hope this makes some sense to you. Like I say, it is hard to put spirit into human perspective.

Another aspect of that stage in my life - was - my parents and parental authority.

My family knew I wasn't mature mentally or socially and were very concerned about 'releasing' me into the adult world on my own.

In hindsight, part of the whole thing was to be 'immature' and 'undeveloped' during those years - and turn my focus to God for parental authority, guidance and leadership. So, from the age of 18 to 22 (or 15 to 19) -- I had spirits who showed up in my life and they had been appointed guardianship over me - to help guide me to a 'mature' understanding of spiritual matters.

Trust me - I was very rebellious against authority and I gave the 'spirits' a very hard time of it. "Who died and made you boss over me?" When a 'spirit' is standing before in their full glory and says, "Your Father appointed me to be with your here during this time." Trust me - when that is said to you the way it was said to me - you know what Father they are talking about. The Father of your soul.

I would be on my way to a 'rock concert' to smell the herb, look at the eye candy, listen to the music and get lost in my own mind with worldly thoughts - look up in my review mirror to see a 'phantom spirit' smiling back at me saying, "You need to stop by this address on the way and pass on a message on behalf of the Father." I would know automatically that someone had died and left the world behind - and I was going to have to talk to someone with tears in their eyes. Talk about raining down on my plans to have a good time and let my own hair down with the fellows at a rock concert. My "Dad" was sending me an invisible 'babysitter' to send me out to do 'chores.'

That is another thing on my mind during that time. I didn't really look at it like a 'gift' or a blessing of any kind. It was a burden and chore to me - and interrupting my own personal plans of having fun. I looked at it more like 'chores' and a burden and that is why I wanted to keep them separate a lot of times.

So there was a stage in my life when 'authority' got shifted from my physical parents' to my spiritual parents and I kept that rebellious nature and frame of mind. When your a teenager and out having fun with your friends - who the heck wants to talk about their 'parents' and the chores they have you to do?

I recalled an incident from childhood I haven't thought of in years. In 1968, my family had moved to Houston to be close to a cardiac specialist for the sake of my medical condition. It just happened that we moved in across the street from another family in town for the very same reason. I was 8 and their youngest son was 6. I couldn't have surgery on my condition because the Doctors felt it would kill me. He had been in for several operations and carried scars up and down his chest. Our families became close. We had both been written off by the medical profession as a lost cause. There was no cure, treatment or surgeries that could mend our conditions according to science. My family was treating me like I was walking my final days on earth - and his family was doing the same with him.

We both lived with horrendous chest pains. We were always being taken on outings together. Restaurant, parks, and swimming pool trips. One day we were at the swimming pool and he started having an episode. Everyone was trying to rush to get us out of there and I walked up and shook my head. I just took charge and put my hand on his chest. I told him to look me in my eyes and I would hold the pain for him until it passed. Everyone said it looked like we both went into a trance together. It was just instinct and intuition and I never knew how to define or describe what I did. When he snapped out of it - he was laughing with joy and glee again.

My family got used to a knock on the door in the middle of the night. "Albert is asking for David. Please, he is in so much pain." He was the youngest of four - and the only boy. His Mom told me that when they asked what he wanted more than anything in the world - he had always said he wanted an older brother instead of all the sisters he got. He started calling me "Bubba" and his Mom said she felt I was God's way of granting him his dying wish. We had a very special bond together.

We spoke privately about death and dying. I had 'near-death's' and knew the other side of death very well.

One Saturday morning I was outside in the front yards. Kids were playing up and down the block jumping from yard to yard. Mothers were in the house listeing to the noise and taking turns watching after the groups of children playing. The oldest sister of Albert's came bursting out the front door and was running up the screaming her head off - shaking her fists in the air. She got up the road a little and fell to her knee's and starting beating the ground. Albert's Mom was chasing after her with tears in her years. Us kids were all giggling thinking the she was throwing a tantrum about something. Her picked her up and was walking her back to the house. It was like Paul Revere announcing the British invasion. "Albert is dead. Oh God why did Albert have to die." Mother's and Fathers had came out and families were standing on the curb. There wasn't a dry tear on the block. We watched her being paraded back into the house. My Mom grabbed all us and told us to get in the house. We were being ordered to take baths and put on our Sunday best while she went into the kitchen to throw some sort of dish together for the occasion. I was surprised when we walked out of the house again to see the whole block had done the same thing. Kids dressed in our Sunday best and Mom's carrying dishes of food. "Mom, what is going on? It don't make sense. Someone died and we are going to have a party about it." My Mom tried to explain how their family was in their darkest hour and needed our love and support to pull them through the darkness that had came upon them.

Albert's Mom saw me and walked over to talk to me. Albert had been taken to the hospital a few days prior and we were told it was just a routine examination. She told me, "He asked for you right before his final moment. I thought you should know you was the last person on his mind before he left us." It didn't make me feel good to hear that said. My Doctors had told my parents that if it wasn't the condition that took me - it would be the pain. I felt if I had just been there for him - I could have got him though his pain and kept him with us a while longer. I blamed myself for it. I had always promised him I would be there for him when he needed me.

We went home and changed clothes again. Kids were back outside sharing their grief with one another. My Mom went into the kitchen to chop onions. She always did this to hid her tears from us. I was alone in the bedroom for awhile. My Mom heard me giggling, laughing and talking to someone. When I came out the bedroom - she came out the kitchen and asked me, "Who where you just talking to like that - on a day like this?"

I told her, "Albert. He knew I was upset and put my mind straight on the matter."

cont........>>>>>

My Mom was used to me. She rushed over and kneeled down in front of me. "Son, this is no time to making an imaginary friend out of someone. That boy hasn't even been put into the ground yet and your making out like his still alive. THAT is not going to set well in people's minds during this hour of tragedy. You keep this a secret to yourself. Don't you go talking to that poor grieving mother about her dead son as an imaginary friend - you hear me?"

A day or so later, my Mom said Albert's family wanted to invite me to the funeral. No one else on the block was going to attend but - the family felt I was an extended part of their own and they wanted me there with them. My Mom said it was my choice to make and she explained it was a way to say your final good-byes to someone you loved. She told me that Albert's remains would be there and I would be expected to view the body. She told me she was concerned it would be too much for my young mind - but she didn't want me to let Albert's family down. My Mom said, "Alberts Mom is going to talk to you about it in a few hours so prepare your answer for her. I will support what ever you decide." I was sent over to Alberts house to talk Albert's Mom alone. I told her I didn't need to say my goodbye's or farewells. I told her, "Me and Albert already took care of that." She asked me if I wouldn't mind sharing that with her so she could go to the funeral with that story on her mind in my place. I let it slip out.

"He came and told me it wasn't my fault. He said he wasn't mad at me for not keeping my promise to him. We shared some laughter said what needed to be said between."

She looked at me strange and said she was thinking that Albert and I had talked about his passing ahead of time and the way I was saying made it sound like we had talked about it after his passing. I put my hand to my lips and said, "Opps. Mom told me not to say anything and to keep it a secret. Don't tell her I told you. She might mad at me for it."

She told me to tell her as much as I could and I told her, "He is just invisible now, that is all. I can see him and other's can't."

She went on to tell me that she was feeling like Albert was around her - and she thought it was just her imagination. She wanted to know if that was my feeling it is what led me to imagine him as he was. She asked,

"Can you see him now?"

I told her yes. He had been standing off to the side since I walked into the house. When I told her this, she closed her eyes and sighed. I told her to point to where she thought he was if she was feeling him in the room with her. She lifted her finger up and pointed to her side. She asked,

"Is he standing in that direction? Where is he?"

I told her,

"He is standing right there touching the end of your finger with his. He is asking to me to tell you something for him."

She turned to look in the direction she was pointing and asked in a rushed tone. "Is my face looking at his face. Tell me when my eyes are staring directly in his eyes and then tell me what he wants me to hear heard from him on this day."

I told her several things and then ended it with,

"He says not to worry about him like you do. He said God looks after him now. For that, he is going to be okay. He want's you to know that he will be there by your side on the day of the funeral - so don't feel alone without him. He will be there for you."

I shocked by her wail and cry after that was said. Some of the things were personal and she told me,

"Only Albert knew how to say that to me and was the only one who ever did."

She was crying again, hugging and kissing my cheeks saying thank you.

My Mom sat me down a few days later and told me even though I had defied her- what I had said had helped mend the worst type of broken heart there was in the world. The heartbreak a mother would bear after the loss of a young child.

My family moved away a short time later in search of another opinion regarding my medical condition and the memories of Albert got left behind and buried. This is the first time in my adult life I can recall remember the incident with clarity. The memory of the image of her kneeling on her knees holding our her hands and him holding out his spiritual hands and touching one another in some sort of mystical, magical embrace. It didn't effect me that much as a child - but the image I have now is of a beauty that is hard to define. I can finally appreciate the moment for what it was.

Divine.

Sincerely,

PS -- I found a 'cure' for my condition - not through science - but through 'divine dreams.' I was led to a remedy that was very controversial and not something I able to express. I found it on my own and followed the prescription I felt I was given in the dreams. In 1988, I visited a Doctor again and he had medical images in his hand that he said defied the laws of physics. He asked what I had done to strengthen my heart for puberty and adolescence. When I hinted at the 'homegrown' remedy - he agreed it would have been very controversial in 1973 as well as 1988. He agreed, that without it, I would have died at the age of 14.

You have told us many beautiful stories, dKing, but as a mother, I think that one was the best. I hope she was able to pull the image you gave her into her mind at times of need over the years. Mothers who lose children have many.

Thank you for your kind words. I feel blessed to have this forum I can write and share these memories with. It was a sad memory for everyone in my family and people wanted to forget their own sad ending. I have been recalling memories of my Mother since she herself has passed away. Like wonderful snapshots that have been buried in a shoebox in closet shelf.

Being young - you don't know how to think or react to situations. I had many mixed feelings about my Mom after I started suffering pain all the time. I came to blame her for not protecting me from it - and not being able to 'cure' it or make it go away. When I had my own 'pain' attacks and was screaming my head off in agony - she would cry. I got mad about that and told her ..... "seeing you cry only makes my pain worse." I didn't know how she didn't know this and blamed her for making my pain worse. When I had my severe attacks that left me bedridden - I wouldn't let her come to me.

Looking back - I know now that the Doctors were telling her to prepare herself and her family for the very thing that happened to the Mother across the street. She was the only Mother at that gathering that was no shedding a tear. She stood strong and acted brave. She was determined not to show me her tears and make my own pain any worse from the loss.

I was trying to figure out why she ran to the kitchen to chop onions to hide her tears from me.

I know that Albert became like an 'angel' that day and visited his Mom, but for me - I look back and see how lucky I was to have a living, breathing, caring, loving angel of a Mother standing by my side that day.

I am struggling to reclaim all the memories associated with this chapter in my young life. This happened at a time when 'reincarnation' was a major theme I spoke about with my family. After we moved to a new city - it was a constant subject matter I brought up.

Albert's spirit came to me often when I had my 'pain attacks.' When I temporarily lost vital signs and felt my spirit slip out of body, Albert's spirit would be there waiting on me. I feel there had to be some sort of 'past life' connection between us - but I have yet to uncover any conversations where I spoke of any revelations about this as a 'fact.'

I have a slight memory of talking to Albert about my own memories of past lives. (This was par for the course - because I spoke to anyone I was close to about having past life memories.) I can't recall what his response to this was - yet.

When my Dad showed me a photograph of me and him standing in front of his house (after amnesia) - I couldn't remember him - but I remember the house in a flashback sequence. I told my Dad I could remember the house - but it didn't make sense. My Dad asked me to tell him what I could remember and I felt a sense of 'shame' about it. I never spoke to anyone about what I could recall.

What I could recall was standing on the side of the house - knowing - no one was home and sneaking into the window to sit on a bed. I had no idea why. I didn't feel I was trying to steal anything or vandalize the place. I just wanted to sit on the bed. While I was sitting on the bed - someone came home. I took off running around trying to hide and hid under a bed - so afraid I was going to get caught not having permission to be there. For the first time in my adult life - I now understand the sequence of events that led to me standing outside the window that day.

It was after Albert had died. I used to spend every weekend with him and we would stay up half the night talking, laughing and giggling in his bed. He and I used to sit with his family watching movies, eating popcorn and laughing. After he died, I became like a stranger to his family. I wasn't invited over any more and the house had so many pleasant memories for me. I knew that I was a sad reminder to his family about their own loss.

I had just needed a moment to remember him and feel close to him.

I remember sneaking out the window afterwards and feeling bad about sneaking around like that. I went to his Mom afterwards and told her what I had done and told her why I had done it. We both had tears in our eyes and she told me any time I need to feel close to Albert again I could come and ask and they would let me sit in his bedroom as long as I needed.

It feels so dang good - to finally understand what that memory was about.

Sincerely,

dKing, do you ever have intuitions about whether a soul is incarnate again? I am wondering about Albert.
I've just now got to wondering about that myself. I am still trying to formulate the timeline again. My sister had just been born and hadn't learned to crawl yet. I was the one who taught her to walk - so - I have that memory in mind. I would have been in 1st grade going into 2nd grade. He passed away when I was in 2nd grade (or 1967.) There is no doubt about the year he left. I know that his spirit came to me many times over the years. I know that his spirit would have revealed 'reincarnation' details to me. If it is like all the others - I would have been asked to keep it 'secret.' So, secret that I wouldn't have access except under certain conditions. I have been asked many times by spirits to not reveal that 'secret' - even when I ran into their next incarnation. I have hinted it to people - but - never spoke to them if I was asked to keep it a secret while they were in spirit. So, I do have a sense of intuition that there are revelations hidden away in my 'unconscious' mind somewhere - and it is leaving me guessing ---- especially since two very important people came into my life who where born in 1967 and 1968.

You know about my Seattle friend. He was born in 1967. When I first spoke to him - I told him, "I wish you could remember me like I remember you. I used to talk to you before you were born? You don't remember that?"

I kept referencing the house we had moved to after Albert died. I recall sitting on the edge of my bed and speaking with his spirit in that bedroom. I described the bed, bedroom and house to my friend who was born in 1967 trying to see if he had any pre-birth memories I could trigger. I do recall him telling him that even if he could recall - there were certain details I had sight of - I wouldn't be able to share with him. I kept telling him, "That was then and this is now."

Then there was the 'funny valentine' who was born in 1968. I ran to my Grandmother the day he was born and told her, "He is back. He is back in the world again and crying for me." My Grandmother said she had that day marked on her calender and was waiting for me to grow up and bring a friend home to introduce to her born on that day. When I met the 'funny valentine' in 1988 - he was born on that very day I had spoken to my Grandmother. I knew his birthday before I even met him.

I don't have enough information and can only assume maybe - but - it is leaving me guessing myself.

For these memories to open back up inside again - has to be for some sort of mystical spiritual reason.

It does carry all the signatures of someone I have shared past lives with - and someone whom I feel I am going to be sharing future lives with as well.

Sincerely,

DKing

I just recalled another 'tidbit' of conversation I shared with my Dad in 1978. I am having to reach back to a fog and trying to fan the fog away to get at a crystal clear memory. My family was telling that 'reincarnation' was a theme I spoke often and frequently. That it was a major part of my understanding of life. My Dad said he could never figure it out - but he felt I had sight of something others were blind to. He had already filled me in on a verbal history of another friend I had often spoke to him about - concerning our shared 'past life' memories together.

When my Dad was talking to me about reincarnation the whole idea of it was totally abstract to my understanding. At one point I told him,

"If you want to know my personal opinion, I am looking at all you guys like you've lost your marbles. I think you all think I have lost my mind because I can't remember things - and I think your testing me to see if I need to be put in a straight jacket, because if go to talking about that sort of thing - I think that sort of thinking will lead someone right to the looney bin."

My Dad jerked his head back and started looking into my eyes to see if I was serious. I told him,

"If your looking for Napoleon Bonaparte or Cleaptra - they ain't there. It is just me."

Of course, I look back on it now and know I used a form of 'self-hypnosis.' I swore an oath to my family that once I was grown - I would never again speak to them about reincarnation. I asked God to help me keep that oath and promise to my family. They told me time and time again - they didn't want to know anything about it - time came - that wish came true for them. To this day, I have never spoken to a family member about reincarnation - and never will. Right or wrong, I feel they wished that upon themselves and have to live with it.

What my Daddy didn't bring up in that conversation is when I went around and visited every family member - or - called them on the telephone and asked them, "Do you want me to forget about his 'reincarnation' business' so you never have to be bothered about talking to you about it again."

I had conditions I set into place to when, where, or how I would allow reincarnation memories to return to the surface. Otherwise, I created a 'turtle mind' and if I tapped that part of my mind - it withdraw into a closed and tight shell - that could not be penetrated.

A part of the reason for this - is - I didn't want their opinions mixed in with what I understood to be true. In my mind, their 'opinions' about reincarnation was 'crap' and I had flushed the toilet in my mind to get rid of their 'worthless' opinions. I was going to rely only on what I felt "God" had led me to believe and to know about reincarnation. That is the way I felt it was meant to be.

If someone would have put a gun to my head and told me I had to remember the times I had spoken to a family member about reincarnation as child - or - there were going to pull the trigger - I would tell them to go ahead and pull the trigger because my mind would never have access to those memories sitting in front of a family. I couldn't have pulled it up to save my own life. (This was put into the 'self-hypnosis' program.) I would die before I allowed myself to break my promise to them.

Now, anything my family told me after I turned 18 are just clues to something I have hidden inside of me.

But that day in 1978, my Dad told me,

"I had many a conversation with you after Albert passed away and the impression you gave me was you totally believed that you were going to wait for him to find a new body to join up with you again later on in your life. How are you going to know enough to look for him if you don't remember him or the many other things you told me about? You said you would chase after him the rest of your life if you had to because you were not going to be the one to break the promise between the two of you."

Now, I am sitting here scratching my head wondering if my Dad had the right impression or wrong impression - since the whole object of 'erasing memories' around my family is - I felt they were constantly giving me the wrong advise on the subject.

I feel there is a 'divine beauty' hidden in the undertow of reincarnation - and that beauty has to be seen, touched, and felt in a way that brings the marvelous image alive right before your eyes. Sometimes, just talking, studying and thinking about it pales in comparison.

Sincerely,

DKing
