Hello everyone!
I started my past life investigation a few months ago when the song Prussia's Glory (a march from Kaiserreich Germany) triggered a memory of watching soldiers on parade. To my surprise, when I investigated the uniforms that they wore in my memory they were historically accurate and should be dated to early WW1. This piqued my interest in past life research and through lurking in this forum I found lots of valuable information and have been documenting my memories ever since. Finally made an account today
That was not the first time I had a PL memory. I have a few childhood memories that don't quite belong with the rest, for example:
- Picking up and reading a newspaper about Princess Diana's death (which happened before my birth)
- Knowing particular East German songs off by heart (I live halfway around the world from Europe and did not know German as a child)
- Sitting by the river Spree in Berlin. I drew a picture of this memory (for validation purposes), and a few weeks later, actually found the exact location on Google Earth! See attached photo.
For some reason, it never occured to me while growing up that these memories did not fit chronologically in my current life; they seemed so real and were similiar to my normal memories so I didn't think twice about them. Only after I found out past lives existed did I realise that I shouldn't be able to remember these things!
In order to keep this post from getting too long, I'll just say that over time, more memories started coming back (all spontaneously triggered, because I always fall asleep during video regressions) and I could sort them into two lives. I was a soldier in East Berlin in my most recent PL (that's all I know), and in the PL before that, I lived in northern Germany, went to the US for a little while, was conscripted in 1915, became a communist in the 20s and have no idea what I did in the 30s.
While reading about the era, I came across the name Ernst Thälmann and felt a connection. (Throughout my childhood, parts of this name were my favourite words e.g. Telephone, Ernest Rutherford (my favourite scientist when growing up), Telemann (I decided he was the composer with the coolest name), Telophase (my favourite step of the cell division cycle) etc so I thought it must be significant). I read through his wikipedia, and to my surprise, matched up pretty well with the description I had already written for my own PL.
Since I recognised his photo I thought that surely I would've been one of the members of his antifaschist organisation instead of the man himself (because the chances of having a famous PL is small) but I couldn't put him out of my mind and ended up looking for his photos in the German federal archive.
I used to have a vivid dream, where I, a middle aged man (at the time of the dream I was a 13 yr old girl) was in what appeared to be solitary confinement. Every day around noon the guards (dressed in boots, greatcoats and "star wars empire helmets" - later I realised they were Nazi soldiers) would let me go outside and I would walk around on a narrow oval path. One particularly miserable misty day, I think I did something wrong (e.g., taking a step in the wrong direction) and the guards beat me up and wouldn't let me go outside for 3 more days. I got bored and tried to make small talk with one of the younger guards and his expression of disgust still makes me smile.
To my surprise (and horror) I found these two photos yesterday! (2nd attachment). The archive description says they were taken at 11:10am, 12th May 1934. All the details are the same: from the building in the background to the narrow path to the sad trees in the centre to the window that the photographer took the photo from. The context is that the Nazis had arrested Ernst Thälmann because he was the communist presidential candidate against the H-man himself, and he (I) had been put in solitary confinement for 11 years. It was a bit of a shock when I saw the photos because he looked like my dream self too. And doubly shocked, because few people would've ever seen that particular prison yard before (Google tells me the place was partially destroyed after WW2 and the current look is very different).
This was the shock I needed and now I'm remembering (or re-remembering) all sorts of memories from my time as Ernst Thälmann. It's been a bit of an eye-opener because the weird dreams I used to have (and dismissed as a result of an overactive imagination) turned out to be real memories.
Another vivid dream I had more recently (2019?) was one where I was living in a small guarded "apartment" (more like a fancy prison tbh) where I had a visitor. We were looking for spy bugs since I had learned that my living quarters were bugged (but when the guard came to check on me I pretended to be looking for a lost trinket). There was even a particularly ugly yellow antique armchair in the room which I used as a stool to reach the higher places. I was able to verify this memory: indeed, in his later years of imprisonment, Thälmann was allowed visitors because the Nazis wanted to record his conversations to extract info, but he had been made aware of the bug so he used chalkboards to communicate instead (I too remember doing this). Unfortunately the article didn't mention the horrible armchair but maybe that thing's better off forgotten
Thank you for reading, I hope it wasn't too long. Also I'm aware that famous past life claims are often met with skepticism (and rightly so), so if you have further questions please do ask.
