Hi Blind-sighted, "I am now at the point where I realize, but not fully, that I know nothing and neither does anyone else!" I assume you are speaking about sure and certain/complete knowledge of the ultimate Truths of existence. And, you are (IMO) certainly correct with respect to yourself...

In terms of "How Things Work", another idea I think I have seen proposed at one point or another is, in many ways, also a variation on the Prison Planet hypothesis (or maybe a variation on the education/therapeutic model). It can work either way. And, I think it is at least tacitly accepted by...

Oops! Totoro has already started a new "Prison Planet?" thread, so I am re-posting my last to that thread for response there.

Hi Baro-san, Your last raises the question: What is your "current hypothesis about reality"? Cordially, S&S PS--I sent a PM to Totoro asking if he could shift the last few posts over to a new thread, as I feel like I have unintentionally hijacked Blind_sighted's thread. Plus, this is a topic...

Hi Baro-san, This is definitely a very interesting way of looking at the situation! Of course, it makes all of the great sages of the East and West with their whining about escape from the endless cycle of reincarnation look like errant and lazy schoolboys moping around and griping about...

Hi Totoro, I feel like I need to say more about the "Prison Planet" idea, mainly to point out that it is merely a modern variation on what has been the default position of various groups believing in reincarnation across time, so it is really nothing new. A variation of the "Prison Planet"...

Hi Totoro, Prison Planet: In terms of the "imprisonment" model, what if the opportunities for growth, happiness, and fulfillment are much, much greater by continuing to ascend to higher levels rather than staying on the Merry-go-Round here? Likewise, what if staying on this Merry-go-Round is...

Hi Blind_sighted, I became very enamored with Eastern thought and religions during the late 60s and for most of the 70s, but came back to Christ near the end of the 70s. I once had hopes of integrating reincarnation and Christianity, and drew some inspiration from the (probably misrepresented)...

Hi Blind_Sighted, I think I understand what you have experienced. There can be the sudden "blip" of insight that makes everything else stop for a space of time. It is not something I arrive at, it seems to come from outside of my normal waking consciousness, and is often in complete contrast...

Hi Blind_Sighted: We have had several people with memories of fighting on the German side in WWII post on the board at one time or another. So, you may want to read some of those threads. I think your two pledges to yourself are good promises, pledges and/or aspirations (as the case may be)...

Hi blind_sighted, Thanks for fixing your initial posting. It seems to support a more negative view of reincarnation at this point. Many see it as all lollipops and roses, at least in terms of the underlying reasons and motivation for the process. I confess to taking that same position early...

Very interesting. I really hope you will complete this post!

Hi Cryscat, Do you have any idea what the circumstances were? Was this an official/judicial form of execution, a murder, or maybe your sad end in the midst of an enemy raid? I'm really curious to find out how this might have come to pass. Cordially, S&S

Hi Cryscat, Now you have piqued my interest enough to dive into the conversation you are having with Eponia. Query: Do you mind explaining a bit more about the suffocation you mention suffering as a woman, and why it might also be something that Eponia suffered? Cordially, S&S

Hi Eponia, Easier for you just to click on the little magnifying glass icon at the top of the page and search "gallic wars". I did not search "gaul" or "gallic" by themselves, but you might also find something interesting by using terms like these. Cordially, S&S

Hi Eponia, Just doing a quick search, I found a couple of postings using "gallic wars" but the member who had memories from that era is no longer active. Best, S&S

Hi Eponia, It remains a cornucopia of useful and searchable information. And, it was a very dynamic and busy place for almost a decade after I joined in 2014. Posts and interest seemed to drop off radically over the last few years, which is a bit sad, but (as previously mentioned) seems to be...

Hi Eponia, Welcome aboard. Things are much quieter here than they used to be, but reincarnation is a topic that in my lifetime (I am in my 70s) has gone through many cycles in terms of the interest of Western people. In any case, I wish you good luck. You might want to use the search...

Hi Lesserwatch, Sounds excellent! I hope to listen to it later. For the moment, my workday  beckons. Sigh! Cordially, S&S PS--I am especially intrigued by the in-family reincarnation aspects.
